Demigod Beta 3: February 19

Demigod Beta 3: February 19

image

On February 19th, Beta 3 of Demigod will be released. A week after that, the window will close for new people to join the beta.

The purpose of Beta 3 of Demigod is to nail down balance and begin trying out the Pantheon – the persistent multiplayer universe.

Initially (as in the shipping game) the Pantheon will include the Forces of Light vs. Forces of Darkness tournament.  As time goes on (and depending on how well the game does obviously) we’ll talk to the multiplayer community to see what kinds of other persistent online games they’ll want.

The goal here is to create something that people can keep playing online for years to come.

Beta 3 will deal with the various balance issues that this introduces and will give players a real opportunity to start really ripping apart exploits and things we haven’t thought of.

It will also be the final phase for us to make the multiplayer matchmaking not suck (In Beta 2D, it’s “better” but it’s a far cry from anything that could be shipped).

So stay tuned. We’ll have more to come soon.

nah, many people in this world including Stardock have mastered the sacred ability of procrastinatiion. It takes years to learn but its worth it. You wait untill the money comes in from pre orders than wait a couple months and decide it time to actually make the game. Than u cram it in under 2 months and everyone goes like wow u must of taken years tio make it. WHen in truth all u did is listen to what people talked on about for months than actually put them into effect.

My only hope is a ranking system for me and my buddies who will play as a team. Random matchmaking (probably based on a skill rating) + able to keep a rank for a persistent team = Awesome.

So in the Beta 3 are they going to unlock Erebus and the Torchbearer?  I am really curious to try these guys.

It isn't quite clear but it seems that there are no plans for automated matchmaking based on a player's skill. Is this correct?

End of Stimulant's quote

The matchmaking is based on player skill.

They were available in earlier beta versions and beta 3 is supposed to be the balance/gameplay beta so I imagine they will be available at some point in beta 3.

Im nearly 100% sure they will be in...Stardock wouldnt leave us only 1 month to balance without all the heroes...i hope :)

So, um... Is the single player going to be beta tested at all?

It's pretty low in my excitement rankings about it anyway, but there were "big plans" for the single player aspect, did anything happen?

Aside from that, non crash/bug related feedback can finally start, huge yay!

As far as I know, the singleplayer is basically a bunch of skirmishes in a row with some persistancy, so separate singleplayer beta testing probably isn't necessary.

Theirs supposed to be something that tells you more of the backstory of each demigod in the singleplayer to. But yeah It's basicly the pantheon tournament.

A Pantheon tourney *adventure* I hope...

I agree - I would like to be surprised by additional aspects in singleplayer.

So. Will the bug that has prevented me from playing the beta (non english ASCI chars in the local settings path) be fixed now? It would be fun to try the beta once before the game launches, as i pre-ordered it day one.

I hope so...

Also hoping the "fps" bug will be fixed. Want this beta to be successful :)

No you can't. I think they won't do public beta till the really last build just like how they did for SIN.
