Will I like GalCiv II?

I have been playing strategy games for a long time and really enjoy them. From Warcraft to Total War to Sins of a Solar Empire. I have a few questions about GalCiv.

1. What is gameplay and combat like? Is it like Sins of a Solar Empire or more like Total War and Civilizations? Is combat like a Final Fantasy type Turn Based? I am not a fan of FF's style of combat. I find it really boring.

2. How are the combat graphics/overall graphics? Can I zoom in and watch battles like Sins and TW and have it still look good, In other words not blocky ships, etc. And the overall graphics in the game?

3. Is it worth going straight for the ultimate bundle or should I try Dread Lords first and then get the other DA and Twilight?

4. If I get the game, which race is best?

Thanks for the help,

1.  Combat itslef is just a show and numbers running on he bottom of the screen...nothing TOO flashy and not at all interactive.

2.  The graphics are great...so I heard (my pc sux arse) with the ships and such.

3.  IMHO I'd just get the ultamite bundle of all 3 and then....choose which one to start playing in.  Some people say to start in DL and work up to TA just to learn where the game has been and where it went to.  Some say jump right into DA and learn the game itself (lots changed from DL to DA) and then into TA w/ it's changes in techs, and the final group says jump right into TA feet first as it's what galciv2 was meant to be.

4.  The only answer I can say here is....yes.  Each race (except the Korx...man I really am not moved by them) has their ups and downs and times/places they are strong.  If you play only 1 way, you'll find tons of the races are horrid choices for you.  If you try to look at conquering in different methods and even map sizes...then you'll find some races are very much suited in those sitations, where your old favorite flounders.

I think you would, I mean its basicly civilizations in space, with a ship builder.

If you ask me, the ship builder is one of the neatest things.  You can design how they look, what weapons, shields, boosters, ect.  If you wanted, you could build the star ship enterprise, x-wings, ect.  With my current game, my scout ships are named the Galactic Go carts...needless to say they look like go carts.

Another cool thing is if you dont somehow like any of the races, you can make your own.  The options for how you want your game is great too.  You can set up about everything, from how big the galaxy is, how many stars there are, how there grouped, which races you want in the game, and what your status with them is.

Honestly, if in doubt just spend the 20 for the dread lord.  That kept me intertained for the past 3 months, and now i got the expansion packs.

Personaly, I like the humans the best.  There diplomatic, have good influence, and there military isnt to shabby either.

1. In the basic concept it's like civilization 2, turn based strategy game with automatic resolution of combats

2. The graphics are nice but it's not oblivion either LOL

3. well why don't you just try out the demo available here : https://www.galciv2.com/Downloads.aspx

if you like it just buy the ultimate bundle, if not ... don't buy any^_^ (one word of warning though, the demo might not have all the latest additions & corrections from update and such but it gives you an idea in any case ...
