Pirates/ I am getting myself kicked

help!

    Ok guys

I need soem help

I am prety experienced in games like this, and it is kicking my ass
with huge pirate atatcks

i can barely keep 3 planets up, and buiod a fleet/ with some basic research

that's fine, I was doing sorta ok

but these 20+ pirate cruiser fleets are like cauysing me huge damage and I can barely replenish my losses vs them

i am playing a 2v3 scenario, on a 14 planet map, and I need some help

I wa sincreasing the bounty area under pirates , so I wa shoping the other guy (AI) would get pirate atatcks but I can barely destroy 1 pirate atatck, that another ones launches

help!!!!

Try using a mix of turrets and repair stations to defend against the pirates.

The pirates dps and shield is quite low, so you should be able to kill them over time.

Also station a capital ship there for easy experience.

Two things about pirates:

1) they tend to show up at the closest planet(s) to the pirate base planet, and attack trade structures and ships first

2) they have no shields

1 means you can fortify up the worlds nearest the pirate base (number of jumps and jump length matters). Repair yards and turrets tend to work well because they often come in with enough flak to muck up a hangar-based defensive system.

2 means that they have no shield damage mitigation and have no guts for a drawn out fight. You can focus-fire on any pirate and do 100% damage with no penalty from the shield mitigation rising. Repair yards also repair damaged structures, so a whole shit-tonne of pirates can be held off by just a few turrets, if you have thought ahead and made a big ball of turrets, trade structures and repair yards in a small space. 3 repair yards mutually covering each other usually means that anything short of a massive Severe level pirate raid can't damage a building fast enough to kill it, and meanwhile they're being picked off by your turrets. Remember you can choose which targets your turrets attack and hold alt and click one to select all.

the numbers are huge and they are large too[ cruisers +

is there a cheat i can use, just to learn the game before i get discouraged?

also, do repair yards need to be overlap or in special spots, someone mentionned 3 overlapping ones, what do you mean?

also, can you increase size of how many structures you can build, seems pretty small, even fully expanded, even for my homeworld?

I don't know about a CHEAT, but if you have upgraded to v1.03 you can disable pirates under game options. But if you enjoy the added activity of priates, you can do as above posts suggest, or if you haven't had the time to do that but do have enough cred income, you can just make sure you're not the one with the highest bounty on your head a split second before a raid starts.

I was raising the price of the pirates screen, and I thought I was highest , and yet, they always launch vs ME

how do I know that they are just about ready to launch ?

2nd thing, can you increase the planet capacity for a lot of structures. ?

this shows a empire with a home world with a huge amount of structures!

I can barely build 2-3 labs, a couple of shipyards and stuff and my homeworld is maxxed out

any advice?

Building 2 to 3 labs and a couple shipyards would about max out logistics on any planet except desert.

I'm in the Same boat as this guy im playing a medium map vs 1 ai ive only played about 4 games easy mode.

1. I have to build a fleet just to take nearby plannets ( 5 frigates on the 2nd or 3rd planet )

2. Pirates are PWNING me hard core ive been spending massive credits to keep them off my back and they still attack me,

3. the pirates and AI will 2 time me as soon as the pirate attacks one planet the AI sends in a fleet to the planet i just pulled my fleet from.

4. one game i played i fended off the pirates for a while takeing heavy losses and then the AI hits me with a fleet of 4 capitol ships and about 50 other ships. I had 4 planets

5. the above fix. about fortifying a front line planet. the pirates did a 3 planet jump to navigate arround my fortified planet ( 1 jump from there base ) to hit one of my rear planets. at the same time the AI hit one of my reciently aquired planets.

6. one game where the pirates did not hit me FINALLY for 3 rounds the AI plows into me with a 3 capitol ship fleet I had maby 4 planets maby 5.

I might devlop a little slow but i do the best i can I max my populations first then work on pop boosters to get more credit income the same time i work on the resorce boosters. to make sure im haveing an influx of credits/resorces.

Imho the pirates need to be toned down just a little I like them they keep me on my toes but umm there just way overpowered.

Well AI if they are not in a team will fight each.

Pirate tips for a 14 world map.

Don't spend any money on bounty until the Pirate raid ICON has appeared. When that happens click it once, and wait for other AI to shove bounty on your butt continue slowly or wait a few seconds before doing it again.

Well if there is a planet near the pirate base fortify it and shove a capital ship and some ships to defend it along with I suggest 6 hangers (7 bombers and 5 fighters) and 3-4 turrents. The Pirate raids are not big, not yet so slowly put more ships to defend that planet. They never go for any other planet but the closest one so feel lucky.

For Fun tip:

If you want destroy the pirates for fun, build a massive fleet I suggest 8-10 capitals (3 kol, 2-3 carriers, 2 support Battle cruisers (1 akkan and 1 dunov) and 1-2 Marza), with 20-30 LRMS, 30-40 Light Frigate, 10-20 Heavy cruisers, and if you want for kicks build some light carriers and see those little dudes help with the massacre. But wait what can the fighters and bombers do that can help even though pirates have flak frigates? They are excellent decoys and plus enough of those dudes can over run any flak frigate, and they will automaticly go for the defensive turrents.I also Tried with a small fleet got massacred in about 8 mins. This fleet is to make sure you have minimal Casualties and lost of resources.

You will lose some ships, but no capitals will be destroyed. So if you think ahead and built some capital and the other shipyard start building more units to replenish what you have lost in the pirate fight.

Reward:

Their besieged cool looking base.

Some other tips if you are going to play on a medium and huge map.

Tip #1: Expand Quickly.

Build a capital ship and a few light frigates with some LRMS, also build about 2-4 colony frigates. send your small fleet to destroy the Milita and pirate ships near the planet send a colony. and do it for every planet don't stop expanding! But for terran planets and deserts planet can stop a small fleet in its tracks. So if you thought ahead build more ships to support your expedition force.

Tip #2: increase your pop on all planets everything else is secondary.

Tip #3: research the trade port and refinery. This will help you alot and increase revenue.

Tip #4: And last one for now don't forget to add some defense turrents to defend your conquered planets.

One more thing This will help you pay off the bounty and make sure other empires get attacked. Oh and Research the Defense hanger sooner or later. but don't do it too late.
