Is anyone making this MAP (not MOD)?

from Star Trek?

This link above is a map of the entire Star Trek space.  I was wondering if anyone was going to tackle this as a possible map for Sins?

I do speak for myself.Don't be offended. Like I said, I will try your Star Trek mod in about 3 years. In the mean time, I'm going to enjoy the ACTUAL game online first.I just think it's a rude "slap in the face" to the game developers to speak of mods so soon.Ever think there was a reason that the developers created a modding section for their forum? Or provided assistance and guidance in the creation of mods, as well as in-game support for activating those mods? How is it possible for it to in any way be an insult, when it's obviously a large part of what they intended for the game to be?They made Mods possible to appease those who are dissatisfied with the actual game, or for those who become bored with the actual game. GOOD GRIEF! You haven't even gave the actual game a chance yet. I just think it's rude. I certainly wont be playing any dumb mod in the first few years.

Clueless...

I'll be around for a long time to come.Watch this with in the next 2 months he'll stop posting.Haha! You obviously know me not. I am the clan leader of MAGOG (Military Alliance of GOG) (www.magogclan.com website will be updated soon for SINS). If you do not know me yet, you will. I've been posting on the forums over at World in Conflict (massgate.net) for 6 months. The same kind of trolls tried to run me off at the beginning, but in the end I won. This is because I speak the truth, and nothing but the truth. If you can't handle it then you will have to learn how.I'm also on the side of the developers. I look at things from their point of view.

And holds onto delusions of grandeur...lovely.

I'd find this much more interesting if you were at least a half-way decent troll...unfortunately you have neither humor nor wit, so too bad for my hopes at forum entertainment.

To what Annatar was saying, that would mean you would have to release a small mod, to change the names of the planets to match your map. Unless you can rename them in the GF, I haven't used it, but if you can do that, it would solve a lot of faffing around.

Yes, it would be an insanely small mod because it would just have to be the English.str file itself.

I *think* Galaxy Forge does let you set specific names for planets that will show up in game if you just do it for the one map - but I thought someone previous asked about just changing names so any map can feel more familiar, which is why I went with the string file blurt :)

A few other points to make about producing this map (by hand, so I can layout the planet in their correct positions), is:

1. Some of the names of the planets are insanely hard to read from that map!!!!

2. Phase Lanes - I know not of the progression of the TV series and in which order they discover or went to these planets, or how the planets are linked in any way. I guess I would have to just "make-up" the phase lanes as I went along, unless I just connected ALL the planets to their nearest brother.

With regards to creating our own system. Doing Jupiter with its moons is a stunning idea. One I would love to see.

As it stands. My plan:

1. Create 4 sections of the map in the OP.

2. See if I can link the 4 sections for one massive uber map!

3. Create the tiny mod for the "English.str" file, populated with the names from this map. However, I have read in other posts about Mods, that changing that string file can corrupt other mods and things. So, I may just have to append the names on to the bottom of the file, or put a note saying: "Run this mod independently from all other mods".

Well, because the game uses 1 english.str file, all the mods that add/change strings have to do use it. It doesn't "corrupt" mods in the sense that it makes them not work, because the strings file is unique to every mod. The problem occurs if you try to combine mods without combining all their additions/changes to the string file ;)

If that makes sense :P

Yea, I understand. That's kind of what I was trying to get accross, but im not much of a writer im afraid.

However, I'll worry about that after I've made the map. Going to use the original map as a trace image, so it should be fairly accurate im hoping :).

Screenshots coming soon :).

P.S.

Oh... and if anyone knows any particular details about any of the planets that might be useful, please let me know. I.E Are any of the planets particularly rich? Any loosely populated? Heavily populated? Any particular artifacts on the planets that I could "emulate" in the map?

Any details are welcome :).
