Availability of the Collector's Edition

Availability of the Collector's Edition

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I confess I lack the energy to sift through dozens of threads looking for the answer:

Is the Collector's Edition of Sins only available through the website here, or will it also be on store shelves as well (EB, Best Buy, etc.)?

If it's very heavy/fragile, shipping costs a lot

Bad thing about living in USA is finding a Job, everything will cost more now, later and USA Goverment.

I've been reading many observations posted here. Interesting. I have pre-ordered the game and I sit here now checking off the da** seconds, minutes, hours, days until it will be shipped to the far north. (Canada)(eh). I think this is going to be one heck of a game designed by people that actually care. My hat is doffed to the production team. I know I will spend hours figuring out how to take over the universe in the single player part of the game only to be thwarted when I conger up the intestinal fortitude to go online and challenge the younger generation. Again, I wish to say thanks to the people that "care" about gamers. Ken61. One more thing...thanks to the beta testers, without their imput I'm sure this game would still be in the production stage..

Welcome Ken61! In case you didn't know, Ironclad is also Canadian :)
Think of the intestinal fortitude we (the devs) have to come up with to play multiplayer with SINNERS who know our game better than we do!

Hi 5s Craig. I didnt realize Ironclad is also Canadian. Learn something new every day. I cant think of a better way to spend winter nights than to fire up the ole puter and try to take over the universe. Wait, yes I can.... :D But lets not go there right now. lol...

Here's a question, I pre-ordered the game back on something like 3/07. At the time, as far as I can recall, there was only the option of download or download with CD shipped as well and no Collectors edition available. I chose the with CD option but does that mean I automatically get the Collectors edition or is there something I would have to do to get upgraded?

DL w/ CD CE FTW, heh.

That's what I did too. I was itching to get into the beta, but only finding out about the game 2 weeks ago I figured I could tough it out. I know I could have done the weird token, cancel, then order over thing, but that just feels like cheating to me (and there isn't anything else I would spend the tokens on right now anyway). But it has been tough trying to get up to speed to have coherent conversations with the folks actually in beta, I always feel like I may say something dumb that anyone who has played would know.

And speaking of dumb questions, I have had a few lingering ones about the bounty system. Not quite sure how to word them, so I will ask with examples:

If the cpu puts an 800 credit bounty on me, and then I put a 900 credit bounty on the cpu, I understand that the pirates will come for me. But what happens after they finish killing my ships, do they then go for the 800 bounty on the other guy? Or do they just return home? And if so, what happens to the 800 credits the cpu was bidding, do they disappear or does he get a refund? I guess the basic question is whether or not the loser gets thier cash back in a bounty bidding war.
you dont get your cash back, the bounty just stays tehre for another person to pick up or for the pirates the next time a biddding war comes around, also, if the compy puts an 800 cred bounty on you and you put a 900 cred bounty on it, the pirates will go for the cpu
Reply #61 Top
nah, they don't, but it stays there as an incentive for everybody to attack them. Anybody who kills their stuff will earn credits, so the bounty you put up stays as an incentive to attack.

EDIT:damn eet, always fast and stuff

Bah, so sleepy I mixed up the numbers, yeah I meant they would go for the 900 first. Thanks for figuring out what I was getting at.

I'm so tired I remixed them up and didn't notice anything wrong in your post.

OK, here's (roughly) how it works.

There is an initial warning that says a pirate raid is imminent. At this point people start spamming lots and lots of cash to keep the pirates OFF their head. After a time, the pirates go from imminent to launched, and whoever has the highest bounty at that point gets a raid on them. Pirates go, attack that person, destroy everything at the planet they come to, then stick around until they die.

What I don't get is: the website makes it seem as though you can pre-order the Collector's Edition as a digital download.

This page:

https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/store.aspx

Shows the description of the Collector's Edition for Stardock Customers, then a button to purchase the digital download version. However, the digital download version comes with none of the special bells and whistles described in the text for the Collector's Edition (obviously, since you can't digitally send physical items like posters and hotkey cards).

I purchased the Digital Download and have been playing the Beta 4 for a while now, and honestly love this game, but I would really like to have the Collector's Edition lewt, too (for two reasons: 1) I am a huge dork and love this stuff; and 2) I would like to support the developers as much as possible, so I'm happy to cough up for something more to help underwrite the development a bit more).

I wrote to Stardock Sales and was told that digital download customers will have the option after release to order the physical box for the cost of the materials and shipping -- however, I don't have any confirmation of whether you can order the CE box, or just the regular box.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

you get the CE box

Thanks -- will be be notified directly of the option to purchase the CE box? Or will I need to come back to the sins website to stare at yet another countdown clock?

If you ordered the digital download you will be given the opportunity to upgrade to the Collector's Edition box on February 4th.

or FREE!

First law of shipping in the US: If it's very heavy/fragile, shipping costs a lot. If it's extremely heavy/fragile, it's free!

So, any chances of getting commemorative lead weights added to my order?
