Ship and Starbase Selection

Is there a quick way to list and select starbases and ships? On a mega sized map it becomes very time consuming tracking down a specific ship or starbase. Especially when the enemy AI wants me to deal with it.

I have a similar problem with planets. The arrows at the top of the Management screen rotate through all the planets in the universe, the ones I can spy on. I can only imagine what happens if I need to track down a mining ship.

There are several other things I am curious about.

- The mini map always shows the planet icons. It makes it hard to pin down ships and star
bases.
- The mini map does not color code the planets, making it harder differentiate my planets vs. AI
planets.
- Do enemy ships in sensor range show up on the mini map?
- If I am at war, shouldn't the sensor platforms warn me if enemy ships are about to attack my
planet?

Any help you can give me would be appreciated. I enjoy playing with the smaller maps, but larger maps need too much micromanagement IMHO.
