WEEK 2 RESULTS!

The 2004 GUI Olympics

GUI Olympics 2004 WindowBlinds

EVENT: Most Original Icon Package

This event asked icon designers to come up with the most original complete set of icons that could be used with IconPackager. Some outstanding entries were in this category and the winners are:

GUI Olympics 2004 IconPackager
Dementæcon MindlessPuppet

GUI Olympics 2004 IconPackager
d3A Miloszwl

GUI Olympics 2004 IconPackager
Megaton - vf -

(tie)

GUI Olympics 2004 IconPackager
The Last Order Rokey

(tie)

EVENT: Most Creative Winamp skin

Which Winamp skin was the most original overall? This was a pretty tough call for our judges as there were some really wild designs. But when the dust settled, here were the winners (and it was close. we mean really close)...

GUI Olympics 2004 Winamp
Enkera 883
GUI Olympics 2004 Winamp
Machina vrank
GUI Olympics 2004 Winamp
Copter UUL

Congratulations to all the winners. This week had some incredibly close events. Judges go through and give skins up to 10 points. And when it was all done, some of these entries won by only a point or two over what came in 4th or 5th.

Because of how close things have been, the Best overall skin will be individually judged rather than just adding medal points up (we had left this up in the air to see how things went). So the overall winners may be different from the winners of the individual events. Stay tuned!

Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to all the prize winners. The Winamp skins were all truly awe inspiring! Well done Rokey for your icons! (I now have all your icon packages on my PC and they are all fantastic!)

Sorry. It was a typo. I had just copied the table from the IconPackager event which did have a tie and forgot to change the 3 back to a 4.

treetog: Thanks for the link I didn't saw it before, it's on the Medal Count link in frontpage :) Frogboy: Thanks for this clearification, but we already knew this from the beggining :) I have an idea that I hope to be respected from people in here and participants, How about all the medals and money/goods we all win to change them for cash and send them to people who really need help? (example Iraqi kids, Palestinian kids etc. that have bad times now we all "celebrate" ? ) I'm Greek and this maybe seems strange to rest of you, making the Olympic Ideal for world peace real from this competition will show something to the world, that we are NOT any random people and we think other stuff too except creating gfx and interfaces........ Also just have in mind that all the prizes will be nothing in less than 3 months, but an act like this will be forever to remember and will save some lifes too. (the medals count IMO and the recognition nothing more) IF I win any of the medals personaly i'll ask for this in person with WinCustomize to see..... Thanks guys. LaterZzz

how noble of you vag, now should the rest of us feel bad for wanting prizes? Personally, I don't feel that I can afford giving any money to people in need, cos I'm pretty broke myself. That doesn't mean I don't feel sorry for them though. Now, I'm in this competition for two reasons, recognition and the prizes. Which I'm sure counts for like 99% of the contestants in here aswell. I shouldn't have to feel bad about that.

Congrats to all the winners. I like seeing how the judges view things because it causes me to go back and try and see what the experts see. Can't wait for the video presentation of the winners. Again, congrats!

i can't believe d-reliction didn't get even fifth in this category... it is a lot more polished both graphically and coding-wise (though i believe the graphic aspect has more weight in this category) than 80% of the skins in this competition. still, congrats to the winners.

Hahahaha Plague of course not, each one of us has been here for some reasons ;) I just dropped that idea and that's all, I don't say winners that NEED the money to no get'em, only those who don't need any real prizes/money to make that move organized from the WinCustomize as the host. That's all.

1.] Congratulations to ALL winners 2.] As i said on another official place today, the creativity for winamp skins has something to do with the topic - Copter is inspired by a helicopter. If UUL would not have been creative on that, he would have taken a photo of some helicopter and put a play button on the front window...

Congrats to all winners. Congrats to all who submitted! I don't use icons or winamp, but recognise the effort that must have been involved in them.

Congrats all winner skinners! A very special thanks to MindlessPuppet (Dementæcon) & to 883 (Enkera), for creating something completely different, sure to inspire and make others dare to think different. Thank you!
