How Many Posts Needed to get attention?

Just wondering what's the average post frequency to get a fix?

Oldest post on this issue was made 10 days ago and apparently no one has a fix yet. I don't mind calling StarDock, but think of the overhead they could save by not having me call and waste their time on the phone. Now I have to go back to playing my Alpha Centauri till it's fixed.

Well, if it was a problem with the game itself then I'm sure a fix would be produced very quickly. However, as the vast majority of people running the game are not experiencing the same problem, then that indicates that the problem is not with the game, but with some other combination of hardware / software / drivers etc.

Posting the debug.err might help, or e-mailing it to support@stardock.com - but I guess the devs will be very busy dealing with legitimate game bugs in the beta.

It's interesting to see that the 4th of these links you posted did indeed get attention from a dev, who requested the debug.err posted into the thread. After that, there was no debug.err posted by the op.

I was on the phone with Stardock yesterday and they said this was the first they had heard of it. I also set the err log, a screenshot and some other info via email to the tech on the phone.
My point is simple. You make a product. You sell it, you collect the money. If it doesn't work, fix it. With any other product out there in the world if it's broken, they owe it to you to fix it or replace it.
If one of my clients has a problem with one of my products, my butt is on a plane that day to go get it fixed. I'm not saying go to that extreme, but a minimal amount of effort is required. The solution I was given by the tech guy was a ridiculous suposition so I have to resort to having a programmer come to my house and fix it. Granted it's only costing me a 12 pack, but it's an inconvenience none the less. By the way, my computer is barebones, nothing special, only built for gaming. If my computer isn't compatible, then I don't know what is. The only extra software on my computer is MS office and Freedom firewall, nothing else that would generate a text graphics error.
Devs and techs all too much consider their client base to be some geeked out 15 year old gamer who whines and cries at the drop of a hat. What they don't realize is there is a huge portion of the gaming world that are professionals and enjoy unwinding through gaming. I deal with software professionals on a daily basis in my business and I have seen the trend that gaming companies lack a sincere dedicate customer service model. All too much companies are stressed to put out a game as fast as possible so the top tier can make their money. I admit it's a thankless job for the programmer, but the gaming community has and does revolt from time to time by choosing not to buy certain software, or worse over, dl it illegally. ok, I fell off my soap box, sorry about that. I just hate when people chime in to defend a company. Especially when they would be saying the same if they were having the same errors.

How Many Posts Needed to get attention?
The magic post number is six. Shhhh.

The devs are busy. The help desk is busy. Lots of fixes and enhancements have been released since game launch.

Multiple posts don't help. They add noise. No game developer I have experiances is as responsive as Stardock. Give them some time. Go build a custom ship while you wait.

Game has been released only a month or 2 ago. There have been more updates and patches then some games get in a year. How fast do you expect them to program ?

By the way, my computer is barebones, nothing special, only built for gaming.

Barebones ? Meaning ? Simple GFX card ? Limited RAM ?

And BTW, you mentioned in another post your XP version is "questionable". That either means you installed a pirated copy or when you bought your PC they shafted you bey using the OEM key on several PC's. If it's the first, your own fault. If it's the second, blame the ones you bought your PC from.

Or 40+ who whines and cries, deals with pro's or is even a programmer himself. Plenty of those threads as well. Offcourse them being a programmer they all know about the headaches you can get but are unreasonable with the time frame to bugtest code. (Like program today, release bugfree tomorow)

A prof gamer would have a legit XP on their PC, IMO, no matter if the installed version was done by the one who sold the PC.

I just hate when people chime in to defend a company. Especially when they would be saying the same if they were having the same errors

Most people hate it when "trolls" come on forum, spout inacurete statements, are unreasonable. It's unreasonable to expect a reply or fix for a problem within days of posting.

Also it's unreasonable to say the problem hasn't been fixed. You don't know if the poster also emailed support or support contacted him by email. It's far more easier to asume faul play and whine about it, you don't know the status only that there's no response in that thread.

As of now, the average fix time is 2 weeks to a month. Not bad IMHO.

*Expletives Deleted* I guess getting mad at the Original Poster won't help any, but STOP with the expecting instantaneous miracles. If you won't post your debug.err then you don't need any help, simple as that.

As for having a barebones machine, WTF has that got to do with anything? This product, GC2 works fine on multiple platforms. If your INSINUATING/INSULTING that it doesnt work b/c you think your rig is high end then think again.

Gentlemen can we please tone down this thread, be a shame to see it locked now wouldnt it!

Psio i am sorry to hear of your problem, please keep us informed of your progress in this matter. Maybe post the debug.err so we can try and see the fix for you?

All other members, i draw your attention to a comment by our very own Frogboy (Brad) who clearly stated that any person who purchases GCII has the right to expect that game to play on their system as long as their pc is above the minimum specifications! If for some reason it then will not play, or will not play correctly, they have the right to sit here and demand a solution even if the way they do it does not reflect the way you or i would persue the problem. Please respect this difference in the way we do things and do not 'flame' the poster for expressing their annoyance verbally.

Many thanks

I think the problem is between the chair and keyboard.

I had the exact same problem after I ugraded it to beta 2 version.

I fixed it by compeltely removing the game. I mean ALL files, folders etc so there was no trace of it left, then I did a reinstall, updated to latest via stardock (beta 2) also downloaded latest vid card drivers just in case, rebooted and it was fixed.

Hey Daemon, is it too much to ask that when you purchase a program that it runs?
If I sold you a brand new car and it didn't run should I blame you, the driver?
Nothing special on my system, it should have loaded up and played after update, so how is this my fault?
Think before you speak.

The developers don't have time to read every single last post made on this forum. And so chances are they are not going to see anything posted.

These forums are meant for discussions and minor bugs that can take time. However something that is actually preventing you from playing the game requires more attention. So the forums won't do. In this case you should email support directly, so you can get straight to them.

Are you sure? Frogboy doesn't seem to sleep. Even if he's supposed to be asleep on irc, he's still here posting away
