I'm involved in another very committed wargaming community with a close relationship with the game designer. Often bugs and new ideas are floated up to the developer. People clamor for this and that. The response we always hear has become a mantra for me and its one that I will always hold onto. The equation to determine whether or not to open up the code again is based on the time/effort versus the resulting improved gameplay. Let's be real. Not every idea is worth the effort of coding

Treylis echoed what I think is the crux of the I-League's power. Their ships are just so powerful. Even their corvets have HUGE hp and attack bonuses. Combine that with their prodigious production rates and they're off the charts in term of power. I just pray I can stay on their good side. In that first game (that started this thread) my alliance with the Torians dragged me into war with them. The one time I managed to negotiate a peace, my alliance dragged me back to war in less than a year.

Thanks for the moral support. You're right Christopher, I've not seen an I-League like that since. I've up-ed the difficulty, lost a bunch of games. In my current game, the I-League is again pretty formidable. But this time, they'll negotiate. I've got them wiping out the Torian fleets everywhere in the galaxy. When they're done, I'll declare war and send in my transports for the absorbtion of that wayward empire. LOL

I tried that for a while ... using AMM's (this was before I just gave up completely on military). The problem was production. I just couldn't out pace the I-League AI ... the number of ships is incredible. The one time I began to wear down their military was a ship discovery event that gave me 100 corvettes in one shot. The sheer number had the AI going crazy. I think I attracted every I-League ship in the galaxy. Things got quite for six months or so but then it all started up again.

I'm pretty new to Galciv ... in fact its my first game. I've read about the I-League and its god-like powers ... but this is crazy. The I-League is at war with every one ... it has swarms of dreadnoughts (with 175 hp!) everywhere. I'm jsut thankful they're not into planetary conquest. They're only interested in destroying any starship anywhere in the galaxy. I've given up fighting them ... its pointless. I can't outclass their tech or the amount of ships they have.
