Title screen menu options unresponsive to mouse clicks in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

The main game menu is currently refusing to respond to mouse clicks. The cursor is present and moves when I move the mouse, but clicking on menu options does nothing. I can't start a new game or change my game options. I first encountered this problem after turning on the hardware mouse cursor and setting the game display to windowed mode. I had a random event where I was forced into a war with the Arceans due to the good ol' "Diplomat tried to assassinate someone" blunder. As a chaser, I was informed that someone was providing arms to the Arceans. Next thing I know, a corvette called "Die Humans" shows up at my doorstep. I was much more powerful than the Arceans, however, so I contacted them and offered peace, with the condition that I be given the Die Humans ship, and they accepted. Kept it as a souvenir.
