Okay - I unchecked the show betas option and I am now able to download GC2. What is the reason for that? The beta was version 1.11[b].005 and the non-beta version is 1.11.029. The non-beta version number seems to be higher.....

No idea - that was a year ago. The receipt only shows a numeric customer ID. Now that I found the receipt I have also found the CD - but I am still curious why I can't install the game (through Stardock Central). I clicked some option to send myself the CD keys I have and I got an email from stardock with no less than 2 different keys than the one on the CD case. None of the 3 keys work..... <img sr

I voted Stardock(other). I got an email 31 March 2005 inviting me to purchase the Beta. I liked GC1 and the fact that there was no copy protection that I followed the link and purchased it. I practically forgot about the game until I received it in the mail at work one day. Needless to say that it was a long day even though I left early! Great game Br
You da man...er, frog? Been playing your games since GalCiv.
I figured that since this was a Stardock program that I wouldn't need to keep the CD in the drive. Different publisher different policies, I guess. I'm not going to get angry like the guy that started this thread since I know about sites to get cracks ( www.megagames.net and the above mentioned gamecopyworld ) but I hope that the developers (Stardock) read this and insist from their next publisher than no "copy protection" is shoved into the game - it'
I like "H". I too hate the fact that I have money being wasted but most of the time I don't want to keep building ships which are then going to cost me even more in maintenance, espeically when I don't need them.
I have noticed on planets with a 18 billion population that if I make 3 Combat Transports in a row filled to the max (15 billion troops) that the planet produces just as fast at 3 billion population. Am I missing something here? The planet in question had a 22 PQ.
the higher your morale the faster you pop grows - just something I noticed, not hard fact.
What? All mine are 192+!!! Aargh. :)
One post I have to repeat #31 by Citizen Paul Auger: " Instead of a maintenance cost just for sub-15 worlds that disappears when terraformed to 15, have a maintenance cost for all new colonies that decreases over time and perhaps is adjusted by some improvements/wonders/tech/pop/etc.. Starships Unlimited does this, a set cost for new colonies for their first 50 turns, ...." Very good idea, IMHO!!
My list: 1. HyperLinked Science Screen - like the Civpedia in Civ3. 2. Animated Ship Graphics - This would lead to more flexibility to the look of units. Once again, look at Civ3. ;) 3. Skinable/Configurable UI - I am sure you guys could figure this one out! 4. I second a lot of the previous posts but feel it would be wasting space and time to repeat them. SD crew: If you could make a poll about what to add to the game it would be great - if there already is one: sorry,
LOL Flamewars are so fun. Back on topicish: Great game StarDock!
Awesome post Ezekiel! ~SDC~
