Hmmm, in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, I have: System Tools Storage Services and Applications I started opening these folders and their sub-folders looking for "Local User and Groups". There are hundreds of folders and sub-folders, so after a while I gave up and resorted to a Registry scan, my usual solution to such puzzles. This might be part of the problem. That's not a Window's 8.1 Control Panel you're using.

Icons in Fences Stardock Forums

I loaded Fences. When I created a new Fence, and all my desktop icons disappeared. I uninstalled Fences and my icons returned. I reinstalled Fences. My Icons stayed put with the exception of my Recycle Bin. It was gone. I disable Fences, my Recycle Bin came back. When I re-enabled fences, my Recycle bin again disappeared. When I disable Fences, my Recycle Bin comes back. Moral: Always try the free copy before you give up the $9.95.

I've just installed Start8 on my wife's new Toshiba laptop running Windows 8. It's a wonderful piece of software, but with this (my second) installation I have one small (aesthetic) problem.
