How do you get to an island in War of Magic Elemental Forums

Maybe a pretty basic question but... There are several islands in the sandbox game I'm in. I have no idea how to get to them. In the old version you could teleport but I haven't found that spell (as yet) in v1.1. Is there a way to load troops/champions/pioneers onto merchant ships?
