Python gets my vote. I've been dabbling in Python in the past year and it has rapidly become my favourite programming language. Having used MATLAB for many years, I found that with the help of a few libraries*, Python can do everything MATLAB can do (e.g. easy matrix computations), while doing a lot of other things better (e.g. object oriented programming). For non-programmers, the syntax is about as simple as you can get, but programmers can do basically anything that you could do

As an old-school gamer who played Master of Magic to death back in the day, I really like this game, even in its current state (1.07). After about 20 hours (which is more time than I spend on 90% of games that I buy), I’m enjoying it more than Civ 4 and GalCiv 2. It is an interesting point that some types of games might be pirated more than others, but is there any hard evidence on which genres are pirated more? My completely unsubstantiated guess is that games aimed at a more mature audience probably have a smaller user base, but are pirated by a lower proportion of the people who play them. Students are probably the biggest pirates, simply because they have no income, but they're also the target audience for most of the games being made today. <br/
