I hate when something causes me to stop debugging to make a change. Especially when I'm doing development on one of our websites. *Stop* *Make change* *Restart Debugging* *Wait for the website to load up(takes forever when debugging)* *Log into test account* *Navigate through layers of pages to get to the page I was working on* ... *Etc* Never had any issues with external drives though, my development folder is just on my C drive.

That system sounds great. I've never really thought much of the diplomacy text in TBS games since most of it is rather generic and dull. This system sounds like it could change all of that.
Diversity is definitely the way to go with resources. More resources will encourage trading and warmongering to get the resources you don't have (as long as said resources are actually useful). I loved Civilization 4 but one of the things that really bothered me about the game was that: 1. Trading resources was near useless for the majority of the resources that existed in the game. Since for most of them they were really only useful if a city was working the tile they were on. <
I fully support the idea of having an extended beta.
Nice post. Lots of good info.
Hmm, intersting. It has always annoyed me that in other TBS/4X games you can only research one thing at a time. I've never quite understood why every other game is like that when it doesn't really make that much sense. If simultaneous researching of techs stays in I will be very happy.
Even without shadows the screens look great. I love the art style that the team is going with, as I find it rather fitting for a fantasy world.
Nice new screens. It is a bit dissapointing that the beta won't start until September but I guess I'll just have to find other games to play until then. Also more editor pics please - that tile editor looks might interesting.
The AI in Galactic Civilizations 2 was pretty good. I'm eager to see what the AI will be like in Elemental.
I love this concept of starting off with a single person and building a huge empire. With every journal entry I become more excited for Elemental.
It sounds quite amazing. Hopefully the game doesn't change too much from how it is described here, as games tend to do when they have ambitiuous features involved.
Looks fun. I love messing around with map editors.
As someone who has spent hundreds (if not thousands) of hours playing the Civilization and Galactic Civilization games I can say that Camp 1: "Sophisticated" sounds far more enjoyable. For people who don't want that level of micro-management you can always put in an option to let the AI handle it (much like how you can have the AI handle virtually everything in the game for you in Civilization if you so choose). Camp 2 is pretty much what every other TBS/4X game goes wi
I'm very dissapointed to hear that you are killing off the bot idea. When I first heard about it in that journal post of your's I was quite excited for it. A game like Elemental is a perfect fit for bots. The reason everyone hates the bots in Demigod is because they suck for that genre of game and they simply are not fun to play against. However, in the TBS/4X genre bots are (IMO) far more fun to play against than humans (in my limited experience with Civ's online every
Does for me. So Cox may be actually blocking in your area. Make sure you are using the one above and *not* what Cox's DNS reports, which is incorrect.
Yeah I think Cox is actually blocking it. When I try 38.98.152.138 I just get: Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)
https://forums.stardock.com/326700 Cox is apparently changing the DNS record, add the following to /etc/hosts (In windows, located in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) 38.98.152.138 irc.stardock.com Or use alternative DNS servers. (In the past I've used OpenNIC, for other reasons. I'm sure there's more than just that out there.)
I've never been able to connect to Stardock's IRC either (from within Demigod via the overlay, within Impulse, or using an external IRC client). Now I know why. I have Cox as well. It seems strange to me that Cox would block its customers from it (well according to what I found after googling the issue that is the case).
I've been playing 3 on 3 custom games all day long with almost no problems at all. Whatever they did in the last patch seems to have fixed it, for me at least (and according to the little connection dialog box the large majority of people I've seen online today aren't having any problems either). Edit: Before the latest patch I only played Skirmish because it was extremely difficult to get a custom game going but it seems fine now.
I just downloaded a new update - not the one they put up last night - so maybe they had to temporarily disable multiplayer while they put up the new update.
Every single skirmish and Pantheon game I've played (maybe 6 now) has been a 2 on 2 on Crucible. Is it just me or is this happening to everyone else? It would be nice to be able to play the other 7 maps without having to go play a custom game (I find these generally take forever to get started). Also will any of the automatch games ever be larger than 2 on 2? I would certainly like to be able to play some larger games.
Stop playing pantheon = no favor point in negative
Not true. I've played 2 skirmish games and no pantheon games and on my second skirmish game I started off with -750 (or was it -850) favor points.
I like the bit about adventurers going around and exploring dungeons on their own. Little things like that help the world to feel alive and just make the game more fun. I also like how micromanagement is more or less optional, some aspects of the game I expect I will want to control every little detail of and others I will be content to let the AI handle stuff automatically. Also a question: Are the trade caravans just aesthetic or can we actually attack them to disrupt
Its caused by not having an arena selected. Just pick one and the problem goes away.
I have to agree with you guys. I think that rating systems where a player can drop below what he starts off at are bad for the community. Such a system could easily discourage new players and cause the online community to be a lot smaller than it would be with another kind of system.
Each beta I've played the connectivity has gotten better for me. I'd say its about 80%-90% successful right now. Not yet the level I would expect if this game were out of beta but pretty damn close, its considerably better than what the past betas have been like for me.
