Thank you for your responses. :CONGRAT: I'll retry Sins now with more confidence. I already use a ventilator and I don't overclock. The heat issue seems to stem from this particular model HP Pavilion laptop as the repair guy claimed to have seen numerous fried boards like mine. My guess is the hardware I chose (custom) is not designed to run in such small space.

Last time I played Sins 2 months back - multiplayer- the game crashed after some visual garbage on the screen. The eventual diagnosis? Motherboard physically fried, no drek. Computer off to the factory, new chips installed etc. Now, I am a little hesitant to play Sins again though I do not know if the game somehow caused the motherboard to spontaneously burst into flames ;) or if the cause was long term chronic overheating. Maybe. What I want to kn

I'm using Startrek Beta V4 for DA. Have some issues with ships not showing up when clicking on "NEW" ships to design at the very beginnig of the game: I have to take a ship from the Templates and hit "USE" to make me a colony ship for instance. A big no no, because if I hit the wrong hull on the Templates side the game will crash. Specifically the basic ships one needs to start: Freighter design is for example not listed in the beginning ships to pick from, and it cannot be selected

Ok. I understand that smoking code slingers like the one's that Stardock employs, this judging by the excellent quality of GalCiv II, have important stuff to do. Like, getting ready to release that bad ass new title that Sales is already salivating about in order to make that $$$. Hell, I understand. I gots to pay my home-loan too, you know. So, if you would kindly pass this up to management it would be appreciated: IRON OUT THE GOSHDARN BUGS BEFORE YOU RELEASE THE FACTORY VERSION. Oh, an

Downloaded new patch v.1.11. Again Nada. Although, I must say performance has gotten even better! Then I click Ship Manager and "KABLOOHEY": Baaaaad laaaaag. Puta madre. Deleting all custom ship designs does seem to do the trick though? OK minus 90% gameplay then. Woo expletive hoo...! Echo Citizen Galaxor's problem to the tee, including background music sounding like scratched CD (or very popular Blockbuster DVD). Also quote: "Codecritter, after closing the game and reloading the savegame I can play at normal speed for a while. After a few turns the scratching starts - at first there are only single lags, but once the first signs have occurred, the situation gets worse really fast." Unquote. What really ticks me off is that the game is so much fun that I actually

I gathered that some other customers had the same issue as I (memory leak (whatever the hell that is): After performing absolutely flawlessly, the game's performance falls to nill after an apparenly random # of turns. More often than not after exiting the ship-manager (and messing with the design), or when GNN news message pops up, or in battle scene when invading a planet. Thankfully, it gives you a heads-up one or two turns before wigging out: Short period's of bad lag and you know it's ti
