Thank you for not copy-protecting GalCiv2. The reason I say that is because my dvd drive recently broke, and for the time being, this is the only game I can play. Granted, it was the only game I was playing, but still. I can't play anything else, including *braces for groans* Sims2. I don't pirate software, or even music, and I appreciate being able to access the game I bought, despite a hardware failure. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmi

I voted for more advanced diplomacy because I'm generally happy with how the combat system works. I guess tactical combat would be okay, but I'd probably end up mostly making the same choices about which ship to fire on as the default, faster system does. I'd probably turn it off after I played around with it a few times. As for advanced diplomacy, that would be useful at just about every stage of the game. I can think of so many times when I've wanted to grab Netro Mancer by the
Constructor's journey To the Empire's farthest base Oops no slot for you *applauds AngleWyrm!
Ooooh I like this idea, though it does faintly smack of exploit. Does the AI have any idea how to cancel an upgrade in the build queue? Even if it did, would it be able to determine when to do so? I doubt it. Still, on the higher difficulty levels we often need all the help we can get. I'm assuming it works, of course, but I can't wait to try it out in game soon. I love the idea of not having to buy or build industrial sectors on a newly conquered world which has been working on building t
Sorry Shirt just begs for this response a guy can learn to "Pee while standing up" and with out getting it on our legs. Now the aiming part even some guys can't even learn that. Haha! Agreed. But why would I want to do that? Nevermind, don't answer that. And yeah, how is HOMMV? I liked 3 as well.
Yeah thanks! Will definitely be checking that out.
Okay Sorc, "Eternal" Guess this thread could last forever, huh ??? What race you like to play ??? are you : GOOD, Bad or .... See, this is the kind of thing that pisses me off. As soon as some guys find out you're a girl, they stop taking you seriously as a person/gamer and start hitting on you. I was looking for other female
Really good idea... I'm obsessed with symmetry so it drives me crazy when I can't get things to line up. It frustrates me soooo much. I’ve even stoped using some components because they can’t be used symmetrically; one example is the thin triangular wings on the Terran style. Yeah, exactly. I'd love to see this idea implemented.
Am I really one of the few girls who play this game?? That seems so strange... there have got to be more of us out there. Come on, back me up here.
LMAO!! The cheese one is the best.
I usually go with something that has to do with the ship's purpose, or that I find amusing. For instance, if I am fighting the Drengin, I'll have the Drengin Eater, Fur Bait, Monkey Effer... something along those lines. Similarly, for the Yor: Yor Mama, In Yor Face, etc. I also like to name them things that make sense when the news bulletin comes up, like "Drath kick in the nards has defeated Korx fleet 258." Hmm, maybe I get a little too into this game...
I believe I am average or slightly above average for a 4x game veteran (has at least two other 4x games mastered at top level). What do you mean by 4x games?
Woah, is this the Dave Hodge who's a dean at CVCC? Small world if so... Also, I have a vendetta against the Torians. Whenever I encounter them, they're the first to go. Well, unless the Altarians show up first.
Attack the enemy ship by right-clicking it (using a ship with weapons of course). If you have a more advanced government, your population will get to vote on whether you go to war or not. Wouldn't it be nice if it went that way in real life... hmm....
Altarian - ay-lee-an-scum Korx - stu-pid-ay-lee-an-scum Torian - fish-ees Yor - toe-stirs Arcean - war-ko-ver Drath - annoying back-stabbing b*st*rds LMAO!
Some would say they are ugly, but they look like fuzzy orcs to me—I want to tickle them. I want to tickle them with a few doom rays.
"... in gaming, we have no indie aesthetic, no group of people (of any size at least) who prize independent vision and creativity over production values." (raises hand) Who's with me? This is an interesting article with which I agree for the most part. I think we need to support indie gaming as much as possible so the industry doesn't become one giant, bland, graphics-heavy, story-lacking game getting churned out over and over. Stardock's innovation is great, and now I plan to check out thi
Yes! Yes! Yes! I love all of this news about the expansion. I voted that I would be interested in a ship pieces only mini-expansion, but I'm happy that it's all being rolled into a bigger expansion. I desperately wanted a new campaign, and it sounds delicious. I can't wait to find out which races get the axe... preferably the Korx and Altarians. The Korx are rather boring/annoying to me; they seem like the Ferengi on ST:TNG. I think the Altarians should go because clearly some good race
My least favorite thing at the moment about this awesome game is not being able to purchase less advanced factories than you have researched. It really slows down planet development later in the game if you can't afford to quickbuy an industrial sector to get things moving, for instance. Anyone else?
Personally, I've never had the issue you mentioned, Draithen. The AI always seems to research different techs, although some races do seem to have preferences for certain weapon lines. I think the game is more challenging than any I've played in years, though I do agree with most of the points angryrussian mentioned. I have seen quite a few well-defended military starbases in my games, though. And I think that the skipped production turn on loading is not a bug but intended to prevent exploi
I could have written that post myself with a few minor changes. I hit 60 with my mage about two months ago, and since then everything seems more like a job than a game. There's only one path to play after you hit 60, and it is boring and tedious. The best part of the game for me was the social atmosphere in my guild, but even that couldn't keep me paying $15 a month for the privelege of playing something that feels like a teeth-pulling sim after a while. I quit, and gave about 850 gold to my
No they can't, because to produce any ships at all you would need the initial colony and a starport. If you wanted them in any time not approaching "never" you'd also need a factory or two. Thus a class 4 is the smallest size for a planet that is actually useful.
Empyrean, will you marry me?
Noooo! Not more troop transports! *cry I can barely beat it as it is! Really, nice work.
I'm trying to form alliances with other races, but I can't seem to generate a "close" relationship with any of them. I'm conducting a lot of trade, giving away techs and ships and even planets, but still everyone is at "friendly." What gives?
