Just finished my first full game of Elemental LH, after restarting after a disastrous start of my first game (ala, WTF IS ESSENCE, etc). So after an 8 and a half hour game, here's what I noticed. Played on Normal/Normal and went for a Spell Victory. Also was playing a custom race that allowed 1 handed spears. For dealing with mobs, spears are just great (at least with men). With proper positioning, spear troopers annihilate city militia with proper use of impal

BTW, I posted this in the feedback thread. It's still happening in .914. Oh, the Shrill Lord I think it's in the FOW, I would have died to it. But I had to kill a Shrill Army to move my Sov close enough to get this screen shot.

So, after giving my Champion reasonable killing power by modding my start champion, AI mobs that spawn close to my starting cities is no longer an issue. The big ones still give me pause (Drakes, Spider hordes etc), but a Troll spawning right next to my start location can be dealt with by a judicious use of mana. However, another issue is now giving me pause. The beast AI seems to completely ignore the sovereign AI. I just played a game where Magnar and I started relati

I've answered the questions below, but my main problems with FE so far are as follows: 1. The random maps are generally unplayable. It requires you to ctrl+N almost nine out of ten maps due to completely terrible spawn locations. I understand that random map generation is one of the HARDEST things to do. And I know it will take time to make it right. But it is something that needs to be looked at very closely. Maybe insert a 20 tile exclusion zone for large monster
I'm sorry if my reply came off as a flame towards you Seraph, it wasn't meant to be aimed at you.
I'm also sorry that my responses came off as flamebait. I agree about your part of frustration, but mine is more related to just being disgustingly sick the last five days. I apologize for letting my anger get the best of me.
BUT, you should NEED caravans to do it. You should NEED roads built. You should NEED a "Network" to do all these things for you. I don't want to load metal on a cart and make sure it gets where it's going. That's why I have Subjects in my Empire. To do the small mundane things for me. What I DON'T WANT is for it to all be "MAGICALLY" sent to where it needs to go with some invisible "Global" system when I don't even have any roads linking one city to another.[/quot
Oh, so what you're saying is All The Players would come up with a Strategy....damn.
All I heard was "hurp-durp." And I heard that because your point is that you just want more unnecessary micromanagement. There is no need to have to personally, one by one, build supply depots to send all your metal to the capital so you can send it to your port city so you can use it to fashion cannons that you then have to transport to your city on another continent so

I'm going to come out in this thread and say that I'm a MAJOR fan of global resources. a) It's intelligent from a gameplay standpoint. It alleviates the problems of unnecessary micromanagement. Why is it unnecessary? Because all of the players would eventually find ways to utilize far-flung resources and instead of us having to bend over backwards to do this, the game does it for us. The problem is that it's an unnecessary step. It adds a level of complexity that is detrimental to gam

This will probably be my shortest post ever on this forums: Add Tactical Battles please. Just transfer over SP to MP. Make Simultaneous Turns and add the option for Timers. The reason I say this is because I doubt most people will be playing Elemental with random strangers.

and you don't need to spend a fortune to buy a console. I guess you've never bought a console, have you Azrune? While I don't really mind copy-protection, I find it irritating when it interupts my normal activities on my computer or takes up any extra utilties except on installation. Stardock's way of doing it is nice and easy, my only

What? What's the economic problem. Citizens love surpluses... What are the drawbacks (in my game I have 100K sitting in the bank. I'm that little guy who sits in that little office building who makes one phone call and deposits 10K somewhere and the whole world goes crazy)

Once, I managed to hold taxes at 100% with about 90% approval. I had 3-4 maxed out Morale resources in that game, and was building more VR centers than factories Well, I'll be damned... That's skill. I have like morale to the max and it always drops to 4% for me at 80% tax rate, that morale even includes the 10% increase thanks to neutrality (is

Technology and Economy. Period. Especially in a normal game. Military is all fine and dandy, but you can pass by with a small (not weak, but small) military if you have the technological and economic edge. Build Economic Centers (ie, Markets, Stock Markets, etc) and also keep up with the technological edge. Set priorities when it comes to technology: Do you really need to research those farm improvements? (hell no). And make sure your always working at 100% on the slider bar, or as close to it a

My naming conventions for ship classes has kind of evolved into an actual system of recognition that just allows me to say, "Oh! That does that! Wonderful", without having to look at the specs of the ship. For me, I usually name the class, then use the description to mark when the first 'prototype' was first started and on what planet and its armaments and characteristics (Warp Drive IIIs with Harpoons, etc). Here's how my system works. Tiny - I don't usually use tiny ships, but when I

Maybe it's just me, but I love 'No Tech Trading'. Without it, the AI is definitely easier to deal with since the AI relies on tech trading for tech advancement. Higher up, it actually makes the game slightly more fair.

To think... I just liked you because you make GalCiv... TA is definately the best RTS on the planet. The modding community is STILL kicking, and TA came out when? 97? That's almost 10 years of TA! TA will never die! LONG LIVE CHRIS TAYLOR! LONG LIVE GALCIV! Man... I'm going to have a hard time choosing which to play...

Creativity is amazing, honestly. This is how it usually works. I just finish researching Laser 1, and presto! Laser 2 is finished. Graviton Driver 2 is completed, and eureka, there's Graviton Driver 3. That's how I've found it mostly works. I know it sounds crazy, but that's about the extent that I've found creativity to work. I always like it <b

It's all about Sun-Tzu Liao! Nothing tops the Cappies! Twenty year recovery? Get back their entire territory again? Trinity Alliance? My fleet of starships usually is fast. Rarely do I have slow ships. Even my battleships usually carry two engines. The only exception to this rule are defender type starships, and dreadnaughts (huge class ships with 1 engine). I've fought humungous wars where I only won because of sheer technological edge and speed. In nearly every battle, I was outnumbered 3 to 1, and was fighting three different nations at once. Had I not the speed I had, especially on my strikefighters and interceptors, I mos

advanced transport modules are the best. Just build one ship loaded with them and you can easily transfer 4 billion people easy... or invade an enemy planet . My fleet of three advanced transports with 4 billion people each is a nightmare to behold... Either way, you stop worryying for them either because of their death, or because they now pay taxes without hurting morale. And the Dreng
