I'm not sure why 'balance' is a biggy in a 4x game vs AIs? This game gives you so many complex mechanics to mix and match it's never going to be balanced. That's not the point - it should be fun. If you feel that spamming pioneers is too easy then don't do it. Abide by a rule that you can only build a pioneer from a level 2 settlement. Problem solved. Or try to play a game without using any crystal or iron. Or build an army full of wrait

I always go logging camp first if available as it only take 2-3 turns to build (bell tower is 4 I think). Also unless I know the map I make a scout very early on (a redesigned one with the stealth trait unless it's a racial trait already). My first action is to cast hammers spell (if I have earth magic and at least 1 essence in the village), then logging, then often a scout, then sometimes workshop. That is a lot of production for only 10 turns in...and it means yo

Well I'm currently playing on small maps that don't seem to have much Essence or many resources (Iron/Crystal) near their starting positions. So I thought I would try to design a faction/character combo that doesn't need them. That means no need for crystal or metal armor or weapons. I ended up with the following: Wraiths bloodline Archery (for the metal free and much better bows) Luck (great syne

The manual is a joke - one of the least informative I've ever read actually. And I've just looked at it again - nowhere does it say that armor 'stacks' so you can wear multiple pieces at once. So of course unless you bother to find these forums you'll never find that out. Maybe I'll be able to beat up Oak 1v1 on hard AI with QoT now :) Out of interest does the AI stack armor/items like this? And is there a pause button for play vs

lol - I only bought the game 2 days ago And of course it needs to be fixed - you have one head so can wear one helm at a time - how difficult is that to understand when you are designing a game? In what RPG/RTS or MMORPG can a unit/player stack different armor on the same location at the same time? I mean that's just an EPIC FAIL in terms of game design 101.. And then the multiple stacking causes 'balance issues' - who would have thought? &n

I just got this game a couple of days ago and am playing some 1v1 skirmishes vs hard AI on Crucible. I found Regulus (mine build) easy to win with, am OK with Rook, but am having real issues with my first general demigod - QoT esp. vs Oak. The problem is that I seem to dominate early to mid game OK and even get as far as taking down his gold mine, but once Oak gets to 19 or 20 the only way I can stop him killing me is burning thru lots of heal potions and I just can't da
