Sorry for rather late response (not connected to the net all the time). Thank you all! I have just renewed the OD subscription (added extra year), in part because of your replies. It's a very good product, especially when you have the option to leave, and keep what you've obtained (still needs activation, but hey, if it doesn't matter if not currently a subscriber or not, as long as the subscriberdata is correct for it

I alwas had, and still has the same problem. Doesn't matter if you have .net 2 or whatever it seems. I guess it needed .net 2 to display the "fancy" errormessage. Here, it doesn't even have a proper icon, so I don't know if it is only a partial file or what. Tried to reinstall from SDC, but no dice. Filesize: 94208 bytes. <a href=".

Thank you for your explanation.. This makes things a bit clearer. You see, I consider extending the OD (still a couple of months to expiration), but needed some info about just that. Seems like it's doable then. Not a good idea to get into something you cannot get out of if you want to, and still keep what you've obtained. Regarding software that is.. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="a

Hello.. I have a small question about the policy on activation of products which I archive in SDC now (which may be installed on a fresh computer later,i.e reformatted and similar). Since the OD subscription lasts one year, what happens if after that I want to install it on a freshly reformatted computer. Activate as usual, or do one have to shell out another year, just to activate them again? <img src="http://

Hello, I have a strange problem with SDC. I use the 'Download and Archive' because I want a fresh archive of the new versions in addition to installing them. One problem however, SDC consequently reports (when finished downloading, and sometimes before): There was an error downloading and archiving IconPackager (replace with any product. HD) The following error occured: Error: No files found within the XML file

Just a note: The file remains in the directory even after installing wcbrowser. I installed the latest SDC version I could download when I got the OD (july) subscription (I guess 2.05), and updated that one to 2.10.343.95, just to clarify.. I would recommend this file to be fixed at first opportunity to remove this as a cause of confusion, or thinking the product/subscription is longer than it really is.. At least for the firs

By the way.. In the SDC the same message was displayed when you selected "Skins and Themes", after the SDC was updated to the latest version (and you have'nt installed wcbrowser).. Check out the file Stardock\SDCentral\WCBrowser\wcbrowser.htm, and it says "For $19.95 you get a 2 year premium membership to WinCustomize.com which comes with these benefits" so I can see why the misunderstading happened, if ordering via SDC anyway..<b

I must admit, it is a really smart trick by MS to hype the product, i.e create expectation, and a lot of talk probably years before it is released.. Just as they did with XP.. Really can't blame them.. And Vista might deliver what's "promised", and maybe not.. Interesting to read about anyway.. <i

CorkyO and AgedElfin, SmartStartup doesn't work for IconX when you also load DesktopX.. When you DO NOT load DX however, and has checked the "Run at startup" then it does what it is supposed to.. and starts before the desktop is shown, so there isn't any clutter when the desktop is displayed.. That is one of the problems.. see the main msg and $1.. The problem occurs if both DX and IX is loaded at the time of shutting down, just to be s

Bichur, yeah, I have tried it, and it works, but the same thing cause the error I mentioned above when shutting down/logging off, because both programs are running at that time no matter what.. and it would be rather nice to have the programs cooperate as they should, at least so both are running when both are expected to at startup, without resorting to the startupfolder thingy, when SmartStartup or DX really should care for both.. Sir Bichur.. The problem for my part is that when you shutdown/logoff the DesktopX unloads IconX (the one which integrates with DX), and tries to load IconX standalone, and that is not possible when in shutdown mode, so it throws the errormessage above (which isn't seen for more than a second). In EventViewer, in the System category, with source: Application Popuo, there you can find the errormessage above.. You can check the behaviour

MrStillKick, you could rightclick the product and choose Uninstall.. and if that doesn't work there is a utility named Zapper that probably could take care of this.. I don't remember the address to the zapper utility, but it is rather often mentioned (with link) on SD and WC forums.. Then install the product again. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/icons/wc.gif" border=0 alt="

Yes.. I uninstalled IconX from within SC, and reinstalled it directly from S.C, not from archive.. Still no dice.. It seems that when I shut down the computer, and DesktopX shuts down because of it, DX doesn't detect that the computer is shutting down, so it tries to run IconX standalone (as the new does when you unload DX before IconX), and that doesn't work because of the computer being in shutdown/logout state..</fon

I found the message which it displayed for a second in EventViewer: Application popup: IconX.exe - DLL Initialization Failed : The application failed to initialize because the window station is shutting down. Just updated to the newest versions of these products, and one problem occured.. I use both DesktopX and IconX, and now it won't finish loading a saved desktop (which was saved when IconX also was running.. saved with the new version by the way, and hasn't any objects in it yet).. It says Loading desktop.. and that message stays forever it seems, until I go ahead and start IconX manually that is, then everything seems

You can use Insert->Browse for image, or any of the other options on that menu, and then remove the resolutions you aren't going to use that particular image for (AND those that already exists, otherwise they get overwritten) from the "icon formats selected to be added" list.. In my point of view this probably should ask before overwriting an existing (nonempty) image for a resolution but.. This should work for I.Devel 1

At last... I've tried to display this topic about 20 times now, and finally it would show more than the first post before throwing out a Timeout, or a HttpException with the same cause, or "there is no postings as this time" (something like that),Server is too busy and so on.. quite irritating when it happens a lot.. Earlier I have been quite lucky with regards to the timeout problems, but now.. no such luck anymore.. <a href="../r

This problem was with the latest release (not the betas, as I'm using this as both work/home computer, and need _some_ stability).. To recap, the problem I mentioned are still there, but to a lesser degree after some emails to Razer support.. Together we tried some things, and strangely it seems that swithing the usb ports of Lexus Jumpdrive and Razer cured _some_ of the problem.. Still crashes sometimes, but now it is mostly stable..<

I am assuming you are using the Stardock Central.. I would assume that the procedure below does what you want without also installing the app.. Rightclick on the product you want, and select Archive Application->Download and Archive (All) To install it on the other computer, probably would require installing S.C. It doesn't require net access just to Restore the program, not if it is on the same computer anyway, don't know ho

I'm a rather new subscriber to both OD and WC, and I won't hesitate to recommend both for anyone who would like something else than the usual XP themes (and a msstyle here and there).. SkinBrowser isn't too bad either.. But, no advertising, nothing extra unneeded things, just skins, discussons, chat etc.. WC is absolutely worth the $19.95.. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/

Thanx.. Based on the info I have removed the CTHELPER, for now anyway.. I guess that if some program needs this, then that program would say so.. I hope it has some effect.. But the Razer driver thingy still remains.. It seems that I can remove that too, but at the same time some of the features which that particular mouse has seems to disappear.. With 'those' in "This occurs only when those programs AND the RazerHid are running.." i meant o

It seems like the IconX and DesktopX program isn't very happy coexisting with the RazerHid (RazerHidUsb) mouseextension/driver. This is the driver(extension) for Razer DiamondBack Chameleon mouse.. Same thing on occation with CTHelper, what that program does I don't know, but.. The program sometimes locks up the taskbar and mostly everything else, or just throws the big blue screen. When I terminate the RazerHid then the taskbar functio
