trading for Tech to easy (and cheap) with Minor Races?

Playing Beta 0.8x, something I have oft felt was wrong ws the ease of puying some majr advanced tech in bulk from minor races. Most of my tech advances seem to come from doing the easy stuff well (making money) , and then buying tech cheap and in bulk from minor races.

I wonder if the main AI does this as well?

This, to me seems to be a bit of an easy option and devalues good players who (unlike me) may gain an advantage over the AI with prudent investments in getting their Tech research resources humming along. In The various Sid Meir's Civ' versions, Tech developments aren't so cheaply bought from the main players but in GalCiv the presence of minor races seems to circumvent this balance to an extent. Anyone agree?

I hope this is addressed in the final release.

I think alot of what you can get from minor/major races depends on the level of difficulty you are using. I read that the minor AI is going to be rewritten so I am sure there will be changes.

i wonder if they will fix the "AI starts out with all techs anyone else has researched" thing and how the icons are the same for all races that appear after the start of the game.

I've always hated the trading of technologies in all strategy games. It takes away from the unique personality of the races. I find micromanaging in order to check who has what techs to trade every turn for every race annoying, but if you don't do it, you fall behind. I think the whole business should be excluded from the game entirely.

Agree to 100%! I hate it when your tech advantage is given for free to a minor civ popping out somewhere. Maybe they should only get the techs everybody else has, they are a minor civ, not the new tech guru, right?

There have been a ton of changes since the .8x builds and the minor races no longer start with all techs. They are, in fact, minor races now.
