For reasons unknown, it appears that it is no longer on WC site. I did my own searching, and he doesn't even have it on his own skins page.

I have a copy, but I wouldn't presume to give it to anyone without Kol's persmission. Sorry about the luck on that one, it is a nice skin.

Found it! It's over on Deviant Art, this link should take your browser there: *removed*
Your luck may have taken a turn! Happy Skinning!!

**Edited by Admin to remove link.

Since MS have asked for the skin to be taken off of here, it's not really prudent to allow that link to be displayed. Sorry.

You can get to his page by using "-kol." before "deviantart.com" - no "www"......

Its not at all fair that Kol's theme has been removed and many other Vista emulation type themes get to stay.
Link Indigo Nanosis Vista
Link Arrow

Thats just on the first page of the library.
I would show more but the all too familiar errors are still happening...

Does anyone know why with the VistaXP theme (GLASS COMPACT BETA 1) on WindowBlinds 5 activated, the fonts in my Mozilla Firefox web browser for "menu" and "message box" keep getting set to what looks like the "Book Antiqua" or "Bookman Old Style"?

For some reason, Firefox is the only program that I have where the fonts keep getting set to this. I've tried manually changing them back to Tahoma or something sensible in Windows Desktop > Properties > Appearance. But Windowsblinds 5 keeps changing my Firefox fonts back to "Book Antiqua" whenever I restart my computeR

Any fixes for this would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Get the Segoe UI font in the .ZIP package when you downloaded the skin. Install it by copying and pasting it into the Fonts folder in C:\Windows. He mentions it several times.

There is a link to his skin on www.neowin.net, the forums are up, follow the Customizing, Windowblind, on the forum, you'll find his link there to Deviantart. Jim

We feel the same way. MS can't be selective on the issue.  If MS doesn't show they are going to enforce their perceived "rights" equally then VistaXP will soon be back.

This is the second time there's been apparent selectivity on the part of MS, where we complied but, it seems others did not.  Perhaps this is down to Wincustomize.com being more 'prominent' within the MS skinning fraternity, but it's certainly not fair and equitable 'treatment'.

Wht did Kols VIsta XP skin get taken off of this site when there are other vista (longhorn) wb skins that have not been taken of??

Why did KoL's Vista skin get pulled?

The answer probably lies in it's closeness to the true Vista GUI (and possibly the text with the skin description that indicates the design is based on images from the "Vista" shell style), and as Jafo indicated - the fact that this site has a high profile for Windows based customization.

I'll admit that I am ignorant of this exact situation, but as a bystander I wonder if perhaps they aren't more interesting in protecting "Vista" as a trademark, i.e. if he uploaded it under a different name they might not bother messing with it...

Could that be the reason other Vista "inspired" skins haven't been challenged?

Just so we are clear of the situation, Microsoft only 'noticed' the VistaXP skin, I believe. Their main gripe was the orb used in the Start button as it contained their new logo. Apparently, at this point they can now chase after people for use of their logo. However, since they arent applying this restriction to ALL sites, then there is not much justification behind it.

Long live VistaXP!

I recall Kol having a disclaimer about Microsoft images actually being used in the skin. I don't know if he copied or used the actual images but he did make it seem as if images were used. Maybe that had something to do with it.

The theme use images from aero.msstyle and a lot of other images are created by me. There are a lot of vista themes that only use the images from vista and there are a lot of themes using the round and vista name. I dont know why only my skin.

I dont know why only my skin

Because it was the best Kol! All the others are just imitations of your theme..

Well this is too bad for it was one of the best.
I'm glad I have a copy of it. I was using it before I put my Christmas skin on, but will be using it after the season is over. Keep on making good skins Kol.

The Vista XP theme was ace. Props to Kol for making a damn fine skin. Best skin I've ever had. I wondered why it wasn't among the list of skins in the gallery...I must admit, I don't agree with MS's logic in this.
