Beta 4 tentatively this Friday

Coming down to the wire..

We are hoping to sqeeze in the Metaverse support into beta 4.  Originally this was going to go in December but because we have to submit the game for ESRP rating prior to December 1, we had to get this part going sooner. So you may be able to play the game via the Metaverse right off in beta 4.

There is a pretty good chance, however, that Beta 4 will get delayed until this upcoming Tuesday to give us a little more time to tweak things and fix bugs.  There's a lot of new things coming together in this beta and it won't do anyone any good if it's unplayabily buggy.  Most of the issues are very easy to resolve, it's just the typical result of moving in big modules into place and having to deal with how they interact with others.

For instance, this week we've put a lot of time (and continue to) to deal with the computer AI building fleets.  This in turn seems to make the game unstable after awhile since the AI tends to build and eliminate fleets a lot more often than a human would.  So these are the kinds of things we have to resolve prior to beta 4.

If a delay is needed to fix crashing bugs, then by all means delay! Nothing takes the fun out of testing more than a crash to desktop every 10 minutes.

Once you preorder the game (planning on doing it friday = paycheck), how do you go about getting the beta... sorry for the newbie post, but we all gotta start somewhere.

When Beta 4 is released you'll get an email with details on this. Basically you'll need to download Stardock Central and install the beta from there.

Shame, took this friday off just to be able to even play it. After that I'll be pretty busy with work for at least 2 weeks (meaning most big bugs are found allready) . Not that I have submitted many bugs reports on B3 anyway, I was hoping to be more helpfull with this one.

(And for those wondering, I work 7 days a week +/- 10 hours a day)

That is a tremendous lead time for an ESRP review.

Looking forward to putting WoW to rest for a few days and get knee deep in bugs in beta 4.

It's an rts about ww2. Great game but GC2 will be even greater!

YOu need the lead time because the ESRB rating goes on the box and that needs a lot of lead time.

Take all the time you need, Brad. We will wait, mostly, impatiently , but we do understand. So no worries about us! Thanks for keeping us informed!

Oh well, maybe we're lucky today. If not, I'll play Civ4 this weekend, which is quite enjoyable I might add.
But I'm sure looking forward to Beta 4 as it promises to have huge new chunk of meat compared to Beta3.
