Most of my positions are similar to that of the New Democratic Party in Canada, or a really extreme version of the Democratic Party. I chose ND as my home state, because it borders my home province of MB. Some of my quirks include:
-A very low religion stat (I'm an atheist)
-Severe opposition to the death penalty (probably my number one issue)
-Strongly favours universal health care (I'm Canadian, and Tommy Douglas happens to be my political hero)
-Severe opposition to prayer in school

If I were running, I would try to make universal health care and tax cuts for the rich a major issue, and the way the Bush administration is fighting the war on terror (I think they have it all wrong). Some of my other major issues would come out, and my opponent would definately use the "L-word" against me, because I am pretty far left. Because I am so far left, I would probably get my ass kicked badly (like McGovern badly) in the election unless my opponent is utterly incompetent and would be lucky to win one state (DC doesn't count). If I could choose a running mate from any current American politician, I would probably choose Howard Dean. Well, at least I can feel good knowing that by the time they get a guy I like in the White House, I'll probably be dead.

Only an 8 in socialism? Come on, you're commited.

What the heck does equality of results mean?

My biggest issue would be deficit reduction. Towards that end, my dream running mate would be former Senator William Proxmire, author of the Golden Fleece awards to recognize poor spending by the government. I would not favor general spending freezes or cuts as they are arbitrary. Though they have Democrats favoring gay marriage, neither Kerry nor Edwards did, but they came out in favor of civil unions with equal force in law. Though its generally not a big issue in the game, I abhorr political correctness. I don't agree with the game that everyone is for capital punishment, but I am for. You do the crime you take the penalty. I don't believe that Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, Timothy McVeigh were no longer human and needed to be put down. School vouchers to me are just another welfare scheme for the rich. Most Americans could not afford a private school even with vouchers. The game lists Democrats as neutral on homeland security? Homeland Security was originally proposed by Joe Lieberman and turned down by the White House. But revisionist history has come down on the Republican side as it often does.

That sums me up quite well

Important issues for me are the war on terror and iraq war as well as free market and traditional values. Also on the religion side, prayer in school, supporting Israel are positives and abortion certainly a no no.

How do you get Special Traits?

How do you get Special Traits?

Just write them in in your candidate file. I have a list of what to write to get what in reply #1. So If I wanted to make a Democratic candidate that strongly opposes the war (say -10, as opposed to the democratic default of -5), I would type in:

//Special Traits---------------------
IRAQWAR -10

BTW, not my real name, I used two of my political idols in Robert Kennedy and P for Proxmire.

wow, you're the only one who doesn't have a list of special traits as long as my arm, myself included.

something I have noticed are some giving their candidates a score of 5 or minus 5 on an issue. Most likely they haven't changed their character because for example the Republicans are already -5 to big government, abortion rights, etc. Take a look at a character issues at the beginning of a game, they already have these issues.

Giving a score of 20 towards an issue is overkill and might label the candidate out of the mainstream.

But I am out of the mainstream!
