Suggestion for the Fertile Race Ability

Hello! I have a suggestion for the Fertile Race Ability. Normally what it does (among other things) is increase pop growth rate by 25%. But obviously synthetic pops don't have a natural growth rate, so they don't benefit from that aspect. My suggestion is that synthetic pops receive a 25% discount (or less if it turns out to be a balance issue) on the cost of building pops. That way, even synthetic pops can benefit from the spirit of this ability; namely, faster accumulation of pops.

What does everyone think? Any balance issues with this idea? Like it? Dislike it? Let me know!

The 25% growth rate is a way to balance all the production discounts synthetics get to pop building thru production upgrades.

Correct me if I am wrong but Fertile race is not available to most meat races only Mimot or as an option for user made races.

Thus what you want is an unfair advantage for the Tin Cans that already benefit from production bonuses when it comes to pop growth?

Forgot that Tin Cans also do not need food.

It's quite possible that it would be a balance issue, but here is how I see it. As it stands, Fertile just gives more bonuses to non-synthetic races than organic ones. If it would be a problem for the ability to treat them in similar ways, that strikes me as a more fundamental balance problem with synthetic and non-synthetic, rather than something that has to do with Fertile.

And yes, you are correct that Fertile is a Mimot ability, and can be chosen for custom races (which I play almost exclusively).

Personally, I think that the Tin Cans are at least somewhat balanced out by the fact that growing population locks out their construction cue from other build options. Plus, worst case scenario, they can't get more than one pop per turn due to lack of production overflow in the cue.

There has been talk of the limits on synth pop, and there are changes coming to synthetics. I believe in the "Next" update (that is its title).

The Fertile ability for Mimots are here to stay the little pests being deliberately over powered by design. They are one of the races designed to irritate the players and give us grief.

Personally I have stated that the Mogwai you see in diplomacy are a front to hide their true appearance.

All I can say is do not feed one after midnight. Also keep them away from water.

Then it could be they are the civilization that f.sapien zarathustra derived from before being stranded.

Ok, interesting! I'm excited to see what changes come to synthetics.

Also, yes. I agree on all counts
