How many times do you curse a week?

Since we have discussed on some threads about what is cursing and what is a family site I was just wondering in you opinion, just how many times a week or even a day do you say an explicive.

Me? It will be months (or a year) before a curse word will slip out. Then again it depends on what you mean is a curse word.

Well, that's the nice part about knowing a second language. For some reaon, swearing the the other language doesn't sound as bad, although it is.

I almost never swear in French, or unless I really mean it!! But in English, oh! I say the F word probably 4 or 5 times a day and a bit more the SH word. Most of the time, I'm talking to my computer when it happens: I mess up something I'm working on, I click on the wrong button, or while playing a game something bad happens.
But swearing in English is not really swearing to me.

Try it! Next time you feel like swearing, say "Merde!" or "Border!" instead, it won't feel as bad.

One of the things about working in multi-cultural, multi-lingual environemts (like kitchens) is you learn a smattering of a whole bunch of languages, mostly cursing.

I think I can get myself beat up in about 5 languages but can only say something useful in a couple. Sometimes not even in English which is my second language. My first is babble - ask any of my students.

To answer your question, it depends on whose listening.

wait... I said a spanish curse word a few days ago. I think I say it to avoid saying a word in English

anyway, I usually find myself saying damn or a$$.

Other then that I stay away from curse words and I don't even say it in my head.

I guess I just don't like them. I rather try to explain myself of which cursing tends to not do very well as far as explaining what is going on.

That is just me... I can see it being a stress reliever or being so mad that only one word comes to mind.

But every day convo? No, especially if I don't know the person very well.

wombat is correct.....Strine is based on colourful language of one form or another.....as for me....I 'cuss' incessantly...but am eloquent with it as I have a rich source of vocabulary.....the last-post-before-exile of 'ex' members of this site....

I'm in a very 'adult' business...which allows me (and everyone else that works there) to curse freely in the office. It's not something to be proud of...but I curse so much, I sometimes don't even realize...like when talking to family members, or on the phone with clients.

Maybe I don't get out much but in New York it seems like nobody really curses allot.

maybe its just me... or I am so used to it I don't pick it up.

When I hang out with friends only one really breaks walls with her mouth. others might be once in a while.

i stopped cursing pretty much cold turkey 18 months ago because i could no longer stomach the gutter language of my kids and their friends. so long as i don't curse in the house, they're not allowed to either. it's been difficult for a guy who spent much time in the military and busts his knuckles underneath recalcitrant cars regularly. it's amazing how people's vocabulary will skyrocket when they're forced to express their most emphatic feelings without cursing. i do miss it at times. and my tongue has developed deep grooves from my teeth locking it down.
