[BUG][CRASH] - Having CSV files open will crash game

Oh yeah I also screwed up the leaderboards....

So I was mucking around in the files to see what they did and if I could edit them

Originally I was editing just the mission xml files. Having those open and editing them didn't cause any problems with teh game. Though uh... yeah I kinda screwed up the leaderboards a bit so like you probably need to lock them down or wipe that stuff cuz my 'experimentation' is causing my score to go sky high.

However when I went into several CSV files to just poke around. However if you

1) open csv file, just open don't save

2) launch the game

3) game will crash before getting to the intro movie

I had a specific file steamapps\common\Siege of Centauri\Assets\GameCore\Upgrades.csv open. But I suspect if you open any of the csv files, the game will crash on load since it wont be able to get a unique lock on the file.

I tried to replicate this and it didn't crash for me.

It would help if we could see what's in your runlog.txt file, it is located in Documents\My Games\Siege of Centauri

If you could upload it to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here, the developers can take a look at it.

I think Ashes will crash if any files are currently open too, been a long time since I tried. It's not really much of an issue though.

Note a whole lot in the runlog.txt that indicates what the error is so I didn't really bother posting it before.

Its a bit odd you cant replicate it? I've done it with a few csv files in the "GameCore" directory and it pretty much crashes consistently. I'm using Excel 2016  so that could be a difference?

End of satoru1's quote

Yes. Excel locks the files so it will crash the game. You can use other tools to have the files open like Notepad with causing a problem.
