Is power baron viable in low player count games?

I've seen a few casts where a robotic player lands on silicon, throws down a few solar arrays ASAP, then manages the company on zero debt with power income.

I've tried to replicate it once, failed hard.

Obviously I should try more than once before making any judgement calls, however I am curious as to whether this is a viable strat in a 3/4 player game or you need to get up to 6-8 players to drive the power price up.

Is there any mechanic in the game to produce a similar level of pressure on life support regardless of the number of players in the game?

I'm not sure how valid I suppose starting with 2-3 solar panels any day is risky in 4 or less player Games.

The colony puts a little presesure on almost all goods, especially life support and power.

This start is viable in 4 player games provided every other play goes scientific. That strategy is hard to do, you need to be patient and know when to upgrade, and ofcourse this is not including the fact that late game your still a robotic, which is probably the weakest late game HQ. But yes,i t can absolutly work on lower player games provided you know which HQ's others are picking. Scavenger uses very little power, and expansive make their own easily, so you have to adjust your expectations accordingly.

Also, the build to go for is 2 solar 1 aluminium. If you go 3 solar then you will never get to that first upgrade.
