More realistic timeline?

Always felt that it seemed odd for the entire game to play out over just a couple years in many cases. Entire universe mapped and colonized in just a few months or years.

Is there a better way to scale the timeline so that it doesn't take eons to travel between stars with a hyperdrive but at the same time you don't go from pre-spaceflight to evolved ethereal non-physical energy being in a couple years?

I was musing about this too, but I was more thinking maybe just not including a date?

Doesn't time slow down as you move away from the Earth?  :fuzzy:

time is weird. And scientists still cannot explain why time can pass quicker or slower at some points than at others, but it can. There are a few theories which I won't go into here. Anyway we have to keep in mind this is a turn based game, so it wouldn't make sense(or be fair, especially in multi-player) if one players turn becomes the equivalent of two turns for another player located in a different sector of the universe. I know that wasn't suggested, but my point is that you can go too far with realism.

I always thought the time line of 1 week per turn worked well.
