I mean, in Europe.

One of my pals is going to finish his university studies next month and i was thinking about buying him the game as a gift at that opportunity...he is not the type to drink, etc.. so i think he would appreciate it more than a bottle of wine or something along that line.

Obviously it would be way cooler in a box than directly on Steam. But i guess there is no other option, right?

Accidentally Rebellion was on sale on Steam these past few days and i had the luck to notice it. So i bought it off Steam, the boxed version would be better, but this was way too good offer to pass.

My friend seemed to be happy about it, told me i shall prepare myself to bombed from orbit :D .

Steam is required to play the game, CD-key or not. It goes through Steam, so it needs a Steam key. They can't exactly include a CD-key when the game doesn't even install from a CD, now can they? Not really behind the times, I just don't understand your reasoning. Why couldn't Stardock/Ironclad include Steam keys in these boxes? Saints Row 2 does it, Dead Island does it, so do lots of other games that are Steamworks with physical distribution. My understanding of this process is that the publisher actually gives Valve a list of valid keys for a title, which Valve uses as a master list when users enter a key.

We're selling the CE items at cost - which does not include the game license. Adding a license would increase the cost by $39.99. You can add both items to your cart to do so, but it's not something we've got setup as an existing bundle.
