Ongr the not-so-Unbound?

Was playing a hard game, the Ongr the Unbound random event occurred. He was wandering around far from my territory, so I didn't pay much attention.

Imagine my surprise when I checked on a Garrote lair near my capitol:

What's this!? The Garrote made a friend! No, it couldn't be...

It can get lonely rampaging the countryside with the Scythe Of The Void. I guess after all that caravan-killing bluster, Mr. Unbound wanted a little binding after all. And he found his anchor in a special friend up north.

I don't think it's sexual or anything. The garrote just understands him.

I look at the screenshot and just see all the potential piles of dead troops. Did you ever kill him, er... them?

No way, my sovereign is still only level 9, and my army isn't big enough to lose several troop units to maul attacks...

Later.

yeah, somehow allowing that hero type unit to attached to an army seems bad.

I've seen him hook up with groups bigger that I'd want to take on already.  Made for some bad mojo whenever he came around.

I would welcome this behavior for all AI's. Once you have some nice troops everything is far too easy and not very tactical.

edit: By AI's I mean the creeps.

I would also prefer for wandering AI monsters to join up like this. I would also like AI to have several monster factions who fight each other to gain levels.

Skeletons will fight other monsters. I don't know if they gain exp from it. I also don't know if it's only the skeletons spawned by the skeleton invasion event.

Wandering monsters do hook up like this.  I've seen odd combinations appear before that could only be due to small groups spawned from camps merging into a larger group.

I mostly agree, but only if it makes sense - last night I ran into some bandits hanging out with an Ignis. Also, I've seen skeletons hook up with a pack of spiders in LH. I think some of this depends on the event which spawned the creeps in question.

Armies of mites / darklings / wildings fighting each other would be pretty awesome.

I have no issues with monster stacks joining forces but I would agree with Tavra that I prefer the combination makes sense.

In related Ongr the Unbound news I had a game recently where is used the amethyst collar on Ongr the Unbound.  It worked and now a very powerful juggernaut was mine to unleash on the world.   I did have to rename him to Ongr the Bound though.

Ongr the Unbound not confined by your restrictive ideas of friendship.
