Singly buy items

Hey,

 

I'm trying to see if this is possible to have an item proposed only once from a building, and then once bought you can't buy it anymore. That would allow to propose rather powerful items, instead of having them set with a super high price (to keep balance), as this would prevent buying them until the end game.

 

Or for example you want to allow a Brewery to allow the buying of one barrel of ale (+1 permanent HP). Players would have to build another brewery in another town to buy a new one. I believe this would be a safe way to balance and prevent any exploit. The new building would still have a minor side effect, like +1 gildar anyway.

Instead of just giving +1 hitpoints from consuming the ale, make it unlock a trait. Since you can only have a trait once, you can only get the bonus once. You'll be unable to drink the ale again while you have the trait.

I can't think of a way to limit something to 1 purchase.

This could work... Do you have an example in your mod of something doing that?

thanks. On second thought I would prefer to propose in these specialized shops items that have a chance equals to (100 - current max HP) chances to take effects (formula to balance but you get the idea)... That would in the end give to the player an interest in boosting also his weakest heroes.

All i can think of atm is the 1 per faction tag, dunno if that would work for a shop item.

or you can create a special resource cost for an item and have a quest grant 1 unit of that resource. That would work.

or a building that grants 1 unit of that resource upon construction etc.
