Question about the Future of SINS

I have heard some people refer to Sins 2, now is this just rumor, assumption. Or has stardock said, Yes we are definately doing it, but not working on it right now.. Especially since they are doing a new game Elemental....something.

My question is, is there any base to the rumor, if it is a rumor, and what kind of time table is stardock thinking, 2 years from now, 3 years, etc? Is it this Elemental game then Sins 2, or this Elemental game then another game THEN Sins 2 or what?

I wouldn't mind if Sins 2's diplomacy screen was akin to Gal Civ, where you can get the Leader of the faction on the view screen and do some wheeling and dealing, with some animated and voice dialogue, that would be a cool touch. I like GalCiv and GalCiv 2 alot, and I wouldn't mind seeing some of the cooler tools from that game ending up in Sins, just to give you that "Your the head of your faction" feel, like being able to trade planets, ships and such.

There has been a few times when I wish I could of transfered some ships to my friend's command. or the AI has settled on a world that I needed and would love to have a way to get control of the planet without having to declare war on the dumb bot.

In interviews they've said several times they aren't done with the Sins series yet. There is absolutely no other specifics however.

That said, I think you're looking at the wrong company. While Stardock has done a lot of work with Sins and Rebellion in particular, it's still the publisher. Ironclad is the game studio that made Sins, and I believe they are the ones that will have to initiate a Sins 2. They are also working on a new game, Sins of a Dark Age, so I doubt we'll hear anything until that is formally released.

Given the direction that Ironclad is going with Sins of a Dark Age, SoaSE 2 could very well be radically different from Sins 1...

I don't think that's necessarily true. I think they wanted to do something genuinely different while they waited for the average user's PC technology to catch up to the point where they can do what they really want to do with Sins 2.

Very true. Just look at Blizzard. They put out a great series of RTS and then went on to put the most popular MMO of all time and then went back building RTSes.

SO what would you say is the Inside and Outside ETA for Sins 2?

I don't think anyone knows. Ironclad is not big enough to seriously work on more than two projects at once. They might test a feature here or there, but I don't think they'll commit to Sins 2 until Sins of a Dark Age is released.

I just hope that with SoaSE 2 the peculiar balance between the RTS and 4X part of the game will be kept about as it is and wont be skewed toward the simplicity of run-of-the-mill RTS games (to please the multiplayer community and IMHO the retarded mindset "strategy as sport"), neither toward complexity of turn-based strategies (to please those, who are into screwing around with various tabs, graphs and similar BS... and most of all love the management aspect of the game).
