why do my generated maps get this land on edge of play area?

I have noticed this strip of land that appears on the edge of my generated maps. also a funny black guitar pick shaped smudge. Whenever I use the cheat to let the ai play turns without me, they always send my leader here to this corner like he is being punished. My leader just sits there until I decide i want to take control of him and move him. Then he teleports back to this corner whenever they control him. This happened on my (recently fried) laptop on at least 4 maps i generated and now is happening on my desktop. I have used no mods and am using 1.0.land edge

As near as I can tell that is intended. Specifically for testing the AI, they needed to send the player sovereign somewhere that wouldn't get found or killed.
