Stardock Entertainment and Ironclad Games are very pleased to announce the release of Beta 2 for all Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion pre-order customers!

This second beta release adds in the Advent Loyalist and Advent Rebel factions, in addition to updated balance and optimizations for the TEC Loyalist and Rebels in either single-player or multiplayer via Ironclad Online or LAN. Also included in this release:

  • All the new technologies and balance of the Advent factions.
  • Construct the mind-controlling Loyalist Coranata or the devastating Rebel Eradica titans.
  • Expand your fleets with the new Discord class battleship capital ship and Acolyte/Vespa corvettes.
  • Steam Cloud support for save games.
  • More performance optimizations, graphics updates and lots more!

AWESOME! But when I try and launch it from Steam it says the game is not available at this time. I don't see that it is downloading anything at the moment, and I'm wondering if it needs to update, but I don't know how to do that. Any suggestions?

*EDIT* Uninstalled and reinstalled and it is working perfectly fine now! :grin:

I just noticed that all my custom maps are broke now. I have tried to load them in the new editor and it gives me a error. Also when trying to make a complete new map it will give an error upon save.

Not to be a pain, but I'm disappointed in the price.  I understand how cool this can be for addicted players (I've been there!  Do you know how much I'd have paid for a Diablo 2 expansion?) ...but for a casual guy who only plays Sins once a month this isn't really worthwhile. =\

I would love to play it but just keeps mini dumping on startup. Even after I deleted local content and re-downloaded. So kinda pissed.

saidar - Rebellion uses Ironclad Online and Steamworks for multiplayer invitations.

I just preordered and finished downloading. I can't wait to give it a try. I do have a question though. Why the switch to steam instead of continuing to use Impulse/Gamestop like the previous SoaSE games?

In beta 2 (build v0.76) where is the GalaxyForge directory ?  only asking because there is no 'Mods-Rebellion v0.76' like there is for all previous versions.

The directory for all of that has been moved to "My Games" in "My Documents" instead of being in appData...
