AI only builds capships?

Hi,

I've played some games and although I do like it i don't see frigates and that kinda ships.

I have the ai on hard and then they only build capitals and titans.

on normal this does not acure.

my question is if anyone else is having this problem.

thx in advance

No, they are building them. Your just not noticing probably, or have a few visual effects disabled. Also the possibility that your hitting parts where they are not building.

I think its a bug, when the AI pretty stops building any new frigates or corvettes in mid game, which put them n a very weak military position. Especially after they lost them after a major battle.

I think this needs to be fixed as it made the AI to be too easy to be stomped in mid game. A fleet with frigates and caps, plus a separate fleet of anti structures will clear an AI pretty easily in the mid game. However, when they have done researching, they are incredibly aggressive.

As of now the I seems to spend most of its money on caps and titans, yes. No idea why, though. The AI also seems to rush for superweapons, when testing the Advent just now I had a superweapon warning half an hour into the game again, with the pirate base dieing to spam minutes later...

The AI does build frigates and the like, but once it reached a certain research level it seems to prefer filling up its supply with capships. This can be quite challenging when you attack them, but on the defense... let's just say capships alone don't have what it takes to breach my defenses.

This might be a messed up line of code in AI scripting, and hopefully gets fixed at some point. It's a shame the AI doesn't use more than half of its available fleet supply.

I agree with you guys (cheesenium and mcintire) but in the first part of the beta this was no problem.

the ai build frigates and i had some nice fights with them but since a recent update not anymore hope they fix it and when they do I'll play again

The AI seems to be doing substantially better from previous releases in terms of fleet support for caps and titans.  I've been playing on Large, Multi Star with all AIs set to Random personality and Hard.  Usually the first AI I hit falls pretty hard but the next two show up with reasonable to challenging fleet sizes, Kodiaks , Caps, Javelins, Carriers and often a Titan.  I'm not a great player but it seems to be capable of giving me a run for my money now.

Also, somehow they were showing up with entire fleets of Pirate ships (big fleets) under their control/colors at one point.  Taking out the Pirate planet did not help.  I guess this was a tech they had researched or pact/diplomacy related purchase.  Anyway, it was damn substantial when they hit like that supported with a Titan.

I never rly had this problem with the AI it has always attack me with large numbers Kodiaks carriers and cap and now and again their own titan. and using just caps with the titan is not a bad strategy i do it all the time plus i back them up with carriers

martox1 I didn't have this problem till this week and it anoys me cause I love big fleet battles. and the ai uses the caps as if they have a fleet to back them up when on the defensive. it does engage my fleet but a cap ship against a fleet 50+ ships with caps they don't stand a chance then.

Having only caps is a terrible strategy. Until they get a Titan with them (which takes the AI ages), you can literally roll them with any fleet you want for the first 10 hours of the game.

Noticed this with one of my games. Nothing but capital ships. And the occasional Titan.

TEC Rebels?

Pirate Mercenaries, the pirates constantly send them ships.

its not just caps have carriers and repair cruisers as well. what level ai r u playing against? cuz it does not take the ai 10 hrs to build a titan. i play against cruel and vicious ai and it takes like 30 to an hr for them to have titans out
