New GFX for Alien Races - WIP

I'm in the process of creating replacement gfx for most of the stock GC2/TA alien races. I simply prefer a different look or style for many. Being somewhat familiar with 3d gfx software I've begun to create my own.

Right now I have images (race selection screen) as well as animations (negotiation, UP screens) for six of them. I attached a preview pic showing those I did so far: Drengin, Arceans, Korx, Drath, Thalans, Iconians. Maybe I do more, depends on things like free time etc, interest etc.

 

 

 

Anybody interested in getting those? I guess I can upload them in one pack to the library once finished (never used that before).

Just so you know, the library is very much broken and impossible to use. There were once a number of alternative sites available, but I suspect most of them have also shut down.

Plus, you could always rapidshare, filehost etc. them. You might want to make a new thread with the link once they're all ready.

I have to say I really dislike the Iconian. They're one of the more alien-looking aliens in their default form, but the one you created looks a lot like just another Star Trek bumpy-header.

Some of the others are nice, though.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll have those 6 ready for upload in the next days.

 

As for the Iconians, yeah, I agree somewhat, but despite looking more alien I didn't like the original ones too much. These are simply my take on them. With a little editing people can finally just use those they like or use them for other (custom) races.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly GalCivious. Anyway, a little variation never hurts, besides we can't be too picky, since there has been ages since an animator produced something for us here. And depending on your vision and after getting the final product, it might fit(but like you said, if one doesn't like it, we can edit it).

I'm eagger for it and I like what I've seen so far.

Hmm I like the idea, however I personally like the current looks of the major races, perhaps using these for custom races?
