[MOD] [NEED HELP WITH THINGS] Darkness Race - Vasari Ancient Enemy

[MOD] [NEED HELP WITH THINGS] Darkness Race - Vasari Ancient Enemy

“10,000 years ago…we were created…at Kron."

"When our potential for spreading easily was discovered, our home planet, Kron, was put under quarantine by the hated Vasari Empire.”

"Using our ability to spread quickly, we took control of most of the quarantine fleet, and destroyed the rest.  Opposition to our attacking our enemy's fleet slight, we conquered many planets, until we reached the enemy’s home world…

“…that was when the enemy decided to attack…”

“…It was a quick battle.  The enemy’s fleet was driven mad, and we took control of most of our
enemy’s ships…”

“…except one, which ran away…”

“…The enemy gathered at one of their few remaining safe planets…”

“…and ran…”

"…We have been chasing our enemy ever since…”

This is all I currently have for the Darkness, lore-wise.

I was thinking of doing a mod based off the ancient enemy of the Vasari.  (See lore)  Would anyone take any interest in it?

Things that need to be done:

-I need a modeler to finish models.

-Finish the Galaxy Scenario Def file.

-Finish the manifests.

That's all I have for now.

Stargate Invasion,

"Should"  That's a big word.  The race is nanites, and ONLY nanites.  Which is why they use the Domination ability.  Because computer code can be sent wirelessly.

Your ideas would totally change the mod and make it not mine anymore.

Corruption?  Nanites can't be corrupted.

Note: I would like to use your ideas.  But they would totally change the mod.

Maybe we can come up with a sort of compromise.  You make the abilities you mentioned, and I'll see what I can do about adding them to the mod.

I make no guarantees.

No, no, first, I just sujested that the Domination ideia could be called corruption, and it could be like Domination, but increasing the corrupted ship stats a little. But only nanites? They defeated the Dark Fleet, the Vasari pride. I would think that they would reverse-engineer some vasari tecnologies to counter their weaknesses, like anti strike-craft and long range units. If they are only nanites, it would be kind of weird they not using the ships they captured before and that can give them trouble. The only way I can think that the nanites wouldn´t be completely buttfucked by long range units and carriers would be either making them really fast, but that would turn them waaaaaaay overpowered, or making them fast and really expensive, but that would be useless, seeing that nanites can only capture one ship at a time.

Not trying to change your mod, just sujesting. Sorry if it sounded like I was changing your mod.

Also, if you want use my ideias. No problem.

It lives! MUAHAHAHAHA!!  }:)  *thunder and lightning*

Anyways, in it's current form, anything without a shield immediately begins taking progressively more damage until it finally succumbs.  Those with shields had better run, because once the infected ships explode, they will infect even those with shields.

Repair Cloud and the Vasari repair platform are the only things that can stem the tide, though they are not always enough if the infection is too advanced.   x_x  Feel free to put the ability on whatever you want, just be warned that once it starts, very few things in the gravity well will survive.  Also know that in it's current form, it will aggressively attack friendly and enemy ships alike.

By the way, I threw another little treat in there for you btw...  Now the Ruiner can deploy nano mines.  I didn't bother naming them in the event you took them out or wanted to do something different with them, but the new mines deal 25 h/s to anything in range when they go boom.

Behold, one of the most complex and devastating buffs every created: Grey Goo *more thunder and lightning*

"very few rgings in it's gravity well survives"  That's what I thought happened with the Dark Fleet when they Assaulted the Darkness.  I'll make sure this works on my computer sometime, but it should.  Thanks!!

Yeah, I tested it with a balanced late-game Vasari fleet versus a TEC fleet with as many ships, but instead most were capitals.  Three Sovas of the original 25 or so survived out of the entire fleet (but PM'm picked off them pretty dang fast after the dust settled from the nanites).  All the 30 or so Kols went boom.  All the LRM went boom.  Hoshis died.  The TEC went away lol.

The Vasari were able to survive (for the most part) because I had my fleet close together and spammed repair cloud.  Now, I had quickplay enabled, so the cooldown was zero and the AM cost was likewise, so this couldn't happen in a real game.  You'd really need 2-4 Skirantras spamming RC to get even half of your original fleet to survive.

Btw, the version I made for you only works for Diplomacy for sure.  It would probably work for Entrenchment, but I'm not guaranteeing anything.

Hey, I just discovered a problem with the process of spreading the infection from one ship to another during ship death.  I've fixed it.  Here's the new version.

The old version had a problem with the shield buff (the one that prevents a ship with shields from getting infected) ultimately being able to fight off the infection on it's own and it would only sustain an infection if ships/structures constantly exploded around it.  The new version is more complicated still, but fixes the problem.

As a result, you can now use ships as timed explosives.  Even something as small as an SC can work.  Simply fly it near the infected ship and then fly it near whatever ships you want to infect.  They will be helpless.  The same applies to structures.  If you want to infect a fleet, build a few structures, infect them, and then scuttle them.  The enemy will have very little time to evacuate, and that's assuming of course that they know you are scuttling, which they won't.

The ability has eight buffs. Wow!  That is one hell of an ability.

Lol I told you it was complex  ;)

AbilityGreyGoo: the ability trigger, currently in the form of a capital ship's L6 ability

BuffGreyGooShield: the first thing applied to the target, it effectively tests whether or not shields are active.

BuffGreyGooTarget: this is the primary spreader for damage.  It also instills BGGIm

BuffGreyGooImmunity: This is what finishes the test for BGGS and determines whether or not the shield is active.  If it is, it proceeds with the infection.

BuffGreyGoo: the actual damage part; it infinitely stacks with each new one adding 5.5 DPS and -.04 Armor.

BuffGreyGooSuperTarget: this helps fix the problem with the explosion spreading the infection correctly.

BuffGreyGooInfector: this also helps fix the problem with the explosive spread.

BuffGreyGooRemoval: this isn't in the chain above, but rather removes BGG and BGGT when Repair Cloud or a Repair Platform is used.

BuffGreyGooRemovalB: this is also applied by RC and RP's; it removes BGGST and BGGIn.

So, yes lol.  It's a complex system; but it works lol.  Aren't you glad I was bored in philosophy?  ;P

Yes, I am.

Lol, well if you need anything else worked on in the way of coding, feel free to run it by me.  I'd be happy to help.

Well, as if it couldn't get even more deadly, say hello to version 1.2, now with even more buffs (I think I'm at 13 now).
The new one spawns clouds on the death of the ship. Currently the clouds use the missile platform mesh because the
game crashes if you don't use one unfortunately...
All the same, it still has a passive that infects all those that come into it's range which is slightly smaller than BGGT and BGGST.

I may eventually make them have a third ability that would allow them to transform into normal frigates which would be
absolutely awesome btw lol.

Good. I have yet to play this ability still.

lol, just load up the dev version and use ctrl+shift+period to watch the fun.

If you want me to make that ability where they can transform into scouts, I'd be happy to.

Just so long as the "Darkness Race" has "I will follow you into the Dark" as part of their music, I'm down to play it.  lol

Not quite the right theme lol.

1. I don't even know what song you're talking about.

2.  I can't satisfy everyone's desires.  I'm just sticking with the base music until I find a better.

I'll try to finish up this mod really quickly, so.

But, I don't have my USB drive with the mod on it, as my mom took it away.

EDIT: Also, I know this is quite a ways down the road, but if you ever wanted to do a Trinity Alliance (so you actually had a chance of beating this thing lol), I was thinking about something for the PJI's.  Make it so that the player has to get certain things like Planetary Organic AI, Data Archive, Power Core, (most of the artifacts) as well as tier 8 diplo and mil research to unlock the ability, but when you do...

Well, let's just say this..  The Vasari found the PJI's and didn't know what they did, but they did notice they could use them as PJI's, so just cloned them.  Let's say that by combining all the artifacts, you are able to access the stuff in the data archive which contains the actual firing codes for what a PJI really is, let's just go with Phase Annihilator.  I'm thinking something that does something so profoundly destructive, it's unimaginable.  Maybe it could be used on a planet that would "magnetize" all objects in the gravity well and they fall towards it at extreme speeds, destroying them and wiping out the planet.  At this point, I'm just trying to find out what would be the most impressive thing possible, but eh..  You may not even want to do this, and even if you do, it would be a long way down the line.

Yes, it would be a long down the line.  I like the idea, though.  I won't have my Sins USB drive back for a while (I don't know when I'm going to get it back), so I'm not really sure when the mod is going to be finished.  Hopefully, before the year ends.

I'm still working on this mod.  Should be released by Christmas, but I don't know.

Obviously no one cares about this mod anymore.

I care, it's just that people don't know what you're up to without a jump drive, so they didn't expect any progress.

I know you care, Volt, and I also see your point.

I discovered today that because of my impatience, I posted my mod twice on WinCustomize, but I only reposted with my notification once.  So I figure I'm back in business.  Sometimes being impatient has its benefits.
