Is there goign to be a EWOM v1.4?

Anyone know if these development guys are or will work on a EWOM v1.4 or have they all gone on to something else?

Seriously, I would not underestimate the nerd rage. It's a power that can level mountains and cast kingdoms into oblivion. I think everyone in this forum knows ;-)

Just watch out for heavenfall if he doesn't get the first download of the FE beta.   8C

I feel bad after reading this whole back-and-forth for starting this thread.

For the record automakers do release crap, I worked for them, you wouldn't believe what they do.  That's all I can say about that... legally.

Also I like v1.3 it gave me some hope that if there was a 1.4 it might be not too bad... anyway.  Glad someone is working on the 'issues', I guess everyone just needs to agree on what those are.

There are standards of quality set in place, though that have to met. There should be the same kind of standards in the game industry, cars are tested and tested as should games. You can't go out and buy a car without seat belts, that is like buying a single player game without AI - it is something that is a necessity.

The difference, of course, was back then, no one had high expectations so GalCiv I's relative...crumminess didn't create the kind of nerd rage we have today (though with the difference being that GalCiv I's AI was a lot better).

Of course, let's keep the denial mode and blame the "raging nerds" who are actually "nerds" enough to be your customers.

Let's conveniently overlook the fact that the product you sold for full price to those nerds didn't even offer a 10% percent of what was advertised, and that the surviving 10% of the intended features never worked anyway.

That's really a good place to be to start taking it on us. I never regretted the purchase as I really, consciously wanted to support a developer who at least tried to breathe new life into a genre I care about. For the same reason I didn't ask for a refund when it was possible. Now with this and all the other displays of denial we've been exposed to lately I'm seriously starting to regret it (and not for the 50$ or 60$ or whatever it was, that I can live without, thankfully)

Oh wah.

Feel free to go away and never come back.

As a nerd, I know when to pick my battles. You apparently don't.  If you played GalCiv I v1.0 then you might have a point. You obviously didn't. My point was that NEW games (feel free to name the last brand new PC strategy game of signficant scope to come out as in v1.0) often have their share of problems. Galactic Civilizations 1.0 for Windows was not a masterpiece to put it bluntly.  It took a free expansion pack to get it to the point where we were happy with it.  I believe WOM was weaker than GalCiv 1.0 but similarly, people who bought WOM 1.0 are getting FE for free as well.

I did not play Gal 1 however because Gal 1 was made it lead to Gal 2 and that was a masterpiece .... Long live GAL 2 and hopefully we will see a Gal3 someday with Tactical combat in it........Pretty please :)

True... and yet totally a strawman because quite plainly EWoM, the game in question, does need an AI.

I played Galactic Civilizations I shortly after release and it was a little bit meh. To be honest I think GC2 was also a bit lacking in soul (helped by some of the later expansions). BUT as Frogboy admitted while GC1 may have had issues it did have AI which could give a bit of a challenge. EWoM is lacking even that IMO which is a problem - you either need to have great soul or good AI for a strategy game, you can't live without either.

GalCiv 2 is excellent, I still enjoy playing it. Though of recent I started playing Civ 4 again.

Name a game that utilizes computer players that doesn't have AI, even if the AI is extremely primitive... Simple list, none. You can't.

Anyone know if it will be out soon as a beta?

I still like Elemental, despite the weak launch I played quite a few hours.  (Over 20 iirc)

Having seen people whine about it since launch despite it continually improving, I'm not surprised they get told to piss off occasionally.  If you're not going to be happy with something no matter how much work is put into it, there's not much point hanging around to make everyone else miserable.

I'm not asking this question but I have heard it asked, "Is Frogboy bucking for a Nobel Prize?"
