Two questions about fallen enchantress

What's the closest approximation for the release date for fallen enchantress? And how will stardock know I bought the previous version? The emails I was sent from my digital copy are long gone and I never recieved the hard copy I requested in the mail. I do still have access to the game via the stardock console utility thingy.

Release date: There isn't one.

That you bought WoM: It's in their records. If you've got it in Impulse, they know you bought it.

That's why I said approximate release date, not specific one. And are you a staff member? I mean you know this for sure and all that?

All we can tell you is that they haven't specified a release date, rather they've said they'll keep working on it until they're happy.

There isn't one of those either, except a very vague reference to "fall" several months ago. If they have a set date, they haven't told anybody.

Hopefully they don't have one, because sticking to a release date even if it's not ready would be a very stupid idea.

I'm starting to find it amusing that everyone (almost anyway) is still expecting FE to be the cat's ass when EWOM has been sucking more and more after each patch. If EWOM was a horse I'd just shoot it and look at FE like a nice case of herpes.

I don't know about cat's ass, but the difference between E:wom and FE, imho, is that for FE there's a clear design that they want to achieve. E:wom is more like a sandbox where they just try things out to see what works, and that clearly doesn't work. FE: "this is what we're going to do". E:wom: "Wouldn't it be cool if...". So for e:wom, you end up with a "bag of assorted goods". Dynasty system. Sieges. Magic in combat. They're there, but they're sort of unfinished.

There's really only a couple of people expecting that. The rest of us are more cautious... but really why would anybody still bother posting here if they expect it to suck? At that point it's time to go find some other game to play.

In all honesty, I'm expecting FE to be a decent game, but not some paragon of perfection. Just a game that will be worth playing. Additional patches and expansions may bring Elemental up to cat-ass levels of fun, but I don't think FE will be any more than pretty good.

The recent spell descriptions make me really want to play it, the fact that sieges and other dynamic battle situations won't be included means I probably won't feel like playing it all that heavily.

As Brad mentioned in another post, 2011 is very unlikely.  I will just quote him because it makes the most sense. :)

Will people like Fallen Enchantress? I think so. For one thing, there's no release date or budgetary pressure on it that was on WOM.  Our company's revenue or health is not dependent, even in the least, on the success or failure of our games (otherwise, we'd likely not be making brand-new hard core PC-only strategy games in 2011 <G>).

Now, when will FE come out? My guess is that it won't come out in 2011. That's not an official date but given that it's July and we like our long public betas, you can pretty much make the guess.

Oh, I conjectured elsewhere that it'd be out in under six months, but I was thinking out as in "We get to play it" rather than "official release".

Is there any info so far on when we (those folks who own WoM and will receive FE free and want to beta test) will get our hands on the game?

Cruxador, the first version of FE we'll get our hands on will be considerably more polished than what WoM was on release last August. Other than that there's no concrete info or dates given by anyone.

My thoughts are somewhat similar - I'm not expecting FE to be the end all of fantasy gaming, but I do hope for it to have solid core gameplay which Stardock can build upon with their usual post-release dedication. WoM had dozens of essentially flawed features that the patches - while significant improvements in some ways - may never be able to completely fix. FE should (hopefully) instead have a few well-thought-out features that can be added to with expansions/patches. If that is the case, it'll have much better long term potential even if the 1.0 is only "pretty good."
