How many factions do you play with on a large map?

I have been playing with 3 enemy and 2 friendly (6 factions total including me), but the map seems a little empty, however those large maps are really deceptively large.  I've founded 6 cities and still only found one shard.

What do you guys use for large map?  6 Total, 8 Total?  Do you keep the same number of kingdom vs empire like I always do? 

If it matters I play on hard with all enemies on hard.

i really wish there was a recommended number of opponents stated for each given map size.

I play with no more than 5, if there's too little room on the map for the AI to advance they will just deadlock each other. By the time the war starts, the AI needs a headstart or it just gets wiped.

I usually play on large maps with 4 other factions, 2 Kingdom, 2 Empire.

I like to be able to get my faction up to speed before I meet more than one of the other factions.

I am anxious to see the AI improvements now that 1.2 seems to be done.

I usually go with five other factions; gives a healthy amount of competition whilst still allowing for expansion towards the climatic war.

on 10 x 8 and 12 x 8 maps I usually play 10 mains, my custom with minor factions enabled, and frequently get boxed in, but the first to declare ware usually dies by my hands(arrows).

I play with as many other kingdoms/empires as I can, on previous version was limited to like 36 until the game bugged out, now I think it's 25 that I have (anymore buggs the game)

 

Would like to have @ 3 minor factions per major added in, this plus the wildlands & such in E:FE would really allow one to have a 'huge' world to play on for months at a time.

Any 4x game, I play with as many factions as the game allows.  I love playing Civ V with a total of 50 factions, major and minor.  Very cool.  I guess this game has a max of 11 and one minor(soon to be cut out).  Thats what I play with.
