How to get submenus in objectdock?

Hi, i have seen some of my friends desktop, and their dock contains submenus, i was wondering how you would do that?

One way is to right click on the dock icon you wish to have a menu for. Choose 'edit icon' then check the box for 'Show folder in a menu.'

It's only fair to mention that this only works for folders, not simply shortcuts.
