Alright folks

I've seen quite a few requests and questions about a Mass Effect mod, i myself asked for one a while back but after the release of the second game (which is epic by the way) I've been putting some thought into how you could go about doing this. I myself cannot skin or model, but i can code pretty well as I've been modding for quite some time now so if anyone has some these skills we might have something. So heres what I've come up with so far:

Well first is the gameplay, we disable the research for star travel, this would force players to use wormholes, which we would replace with "mass relays." these are both simple and easy tweaks to the game. the only downside is that we would have to redesign all the maps to fit with the gameplay, but seeing as this would be a complete conversion thats pretty much a given.

Races and factions have been built up considerably in mass effect 2 so there really isn't a whole lot of guess work, not to say there isnt any at all. My idea was to use the mercinary groups as pirates, but the collectors also came to mind. (Ideas?) I was thinking along the lines of making the 3 main citadel species as the "Citadel" race and combining theAlliance and Cerberus as "Human" but i can't seem to come to a good conclusion. The other races might be a little tougher as there isnt a whole lot. The Geth is a definate and could throw the Reapers in there as a super race or something else. Thoughts?

The Alliance and Citadel both have a pretty good diversity in vessels, but the geth might need a wee bit of imagination. I was thinking of putting the Normandy SR2 as a Human Dreadnaught mainly because of its abilitys weapons. The original Normandy could be an expensive frigate perhaps? a crusier could work as well. im kind of divided on this one to so any input would be helpful.

When I posted my idea for a tutorial mission, I wasn't really taking into account whether or not it could actually be done honestly. I just had an idea that I really needed to get out, since I thought he Human-Turian War just seemed like the perfect setting for a tutorial.

Hey guys, just recently dug up the file where the Normandy SR2 model came from.

Just converted the models into Obj. format and packaged them up for download, if anybody wants to take a crack at all the shenanigans that goes with getting models into SINS by all means have at it.

If anybody decides to go for it, just go ahead and let me know and i'll let ya know where all the little weapons, gadgets and doohickeys on the vessels go.

this mod will be great once we have more to work with. I'm guessing we're gonna see more ship conflict in me3 since the reapers kinda have to be taken on with ships it would seem. I would love this to become realized. I would love to have a mass effect mod for sins, it'd be perfect if done right. Only wish we could animate the ship models for the reapers and some of the other ships like the normandy sr1 when she does a jump but i dont think thats possible.

Thnx for the upload (ViperVenom117) but for some reason i cant seem to import the .obj into SoftimageXSI

ahh yeah i'm pretty sure you have to import them into blender first... I'll look into it

Yeah Blender Imports them no problem, and i was able to import the cruiser into XSI without an issue. (didnt check the others though)

I was able to import the *.obj files ok into my 3d paint program. The models looked pretty good visually. Looked like they might import into sins without major issues similar to the Normandy model.

well by all means, please do! The Alliance Cruiser and Normandy SR1 would definitely be a nice addition. If you'd like any help please let me know!

oh and zombie, Got a model of the SR2 off Sci-Fi meshes.com i'm pretty sure this model is VERY poly heavy, but its pretty detailed and has a great texture. Just wondering if its got any potential in SINs or at the least maybe help in the texturing of the Model we have now.

I've imported the Normandy model into Blender and then converted it to Softimage XSI format but when i try to import it into Softimage i get this error: "Failed to save sequence before system failure". it then crashes. Its probaly something really noobie that im doing but i dont know how to model, i just stick to my coding.

Any Ideas???

Edit: I converted the model using blender then tried to convert that to a MESH with convertxsi. i did that but got an error like: ignored material is unknow (24). when i add it to a mod it starts up fine and when the ship is created there is nothing there, its just empty, except from its icon.

Yeah, number 1 its sounds like you have the same issue as me with XSI, it crashes on my laptop after being open for a couple minutes.(I'm pretty much just a coder too ;P )

Also the nodel is not ready for use in SINS, it still needs to be UV mapped and the mesh points need added among other things.

lol i'm the one who gave got SivCorp to rig/UV map the Normandy SR2 model and I gave it to zombie to finish up and put in sins...

The normandy model in this pack is from the first mass effect, the Normandy SR1.

Its a very nice sub mod! The SR2 looks great, if a bit fuzzy, but thats ok. Now just to get it imported to the Distant Stars mod....

 

Also, I made a Mass Effect music mod for DS, but one could probably edit it to play it without DS.

Lol i had to work to get it out of my personal DS mod, yeah the texture is a bit janky but zombiesRus said he'd fix it up sometime.

I have lots of mass effect music (among others) built into my DS mod already, it goes with SINS very well.

If you want me to upload it I will, but I wont edit out the extras: Pirates of the Caribbean ect. lol 

(too lazy)  ;P

I would... but its slightly overpowered, well at least relative to regular DS. the mini mod is pretty easy to put into DS, just add the string files and entities to the manifest and you're good.

As for the music it doesnt really matter to me, I was just offering lol

sure, im actually pretty sure it would work with entrenchment now but i could be wrong. but why not get diplomacy? 10 bucks and a lot of new modding options.
