Some simple tweaks that could make the game more fun

and less of a hassle:

I don't whether the devs will ever work on GCII again, but here are two things I would like

1.  When you punch the colony button, bottom left, it should show what type of planet it is:  normal, toxic, high grav, etc.  This would be particularly helpful for the unowned list when you want to colonize.

2.  When you capture a planet and get tech, you should be able to refuse it or have it not automatically go into effect for all of your planets.  Sometimes getting a tech is a tremendous economic curse and can drive you into the red unless you go planet by planet deleting improvements (like high level factories that you cannot afford).  I think you can turn this off per planet in TA, but I want it simple for all of my planets.

Giving the fact that I don't own TA precludes me from answering #! , but with the case of stealing tech, I've never had an issue with that, and i've played 1000+ games and invaded 10000+ planets and never had an issue (in DL).

So, I don't really have an opinion on #1 , but as for #2 I dissagree, as No issues have ever arisen for me, in large empires or small ones. Burning planets from orbit is fun man, and most of the time (for me atleast 8O ) it is totally devoid of consequences :P

Totally agree here. Would avoid a lot of micromanagment. Why not having a Civ-wide governor that rules that, or some sort of "apply this rule to all planets".

Would help alot...

Devil-

How do you burn planets in DL?  I thought all you could do is invade them.

As for the first point, in DA and TA you have planets of different types that cannot be colonized without the proper techs.

As to which techs I research first, I end up counting the number in each type and research the tech that will get me the most planets right away.  I find there is some difference from game to game as to which type predominates with good planets.  I usually only take the 10+ planets and leave the meager planets to the AI.

I just got slimed last night.  I had my economy in order using manufacturing centers.  Then I take over another planet and I get a tech I did not want ramping up the manufacturing and also greatly adding to my expenses unless I went through and deleted them in the queue of EACH bloody planet.

Agree on both points.

Galaxy wide planet governers would be a big help.

For GC3, I hope there are lots and lots of governers added.  For example, the ability to buy all projects in all queues or all ships in all queues.

An other solution would be to save every turn and quicksave after lots of micromanagment and simply re-load after that happening.

But the basic problem I have with that is that the advanced fac tech also hold the ResourceMine-upgrades, and these are important. Going all-lab is another option, or having Social-prod at 0% - and buying all structures.

But that'S not the way I´d like to play...

I am pretty sure there is an option to disable auto upgrades of improvements. Just because you CAN upgrade, doesn't mean you should.
