Complete Newbie Question About Galaxy Forge

If you have entrenchment (and maybe regular Sins as well), you need to put it in the C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge, AKA the galaxy forge folder that is with the mod folder. If you correctly changed the manifest and put the map in the regular map folder (with all the default maps), it should appear in the regular small/medium/large map sections somewhere.

No joy; I can get maps I download to work properly but placing them in the correct folder etc, but the maps I make still don't show up. Furthermore, Galaxy Forge is giving me an error when I try to open a map I DLed (which I did to see if I could resave them and make that work), forcing me to quit or continue without opening the map. What the hell did I do wrong?

you could try this info that I have been posting since sins 1.16/entrenchment 1.02

assuming you have sins 1.181/entrenchment 1.041,  the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge.

for sins 1.15/entrenchment 1.01 and earlier, the correct location IS the program files \galaxy folder, and you also NEED to edit the entrenchment's galaxy.manifest to include the maps and also the total count of maps

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

NOTE 2 the 'user name' in the above paths is your WINDOWS login user name, eg Administrator

also the galaxy forge maps in the local apps galaxyforge folder only show up in the galaxy forge tab of map types in sins 1.16+/entrenchment 1.02+

if the map IS a galaxy forge and giving the instant win/loss screen then MAKE sure that EACH player has a home planet and is not for a particular mod that has extra home planets and stars

and if a map you want to play was released before 25th feb 2009 then you will also need the sins map updater from here

Are you sure you have the newest version of Galaxy forge? Also, can you play any of the maps you downloaded? Ususally the galaxy forge crashes when you try to open a map that was generated from a different version of the galaxy forge, so if you can play the DLed maps you probably don't have the most recent version.

I'm not sure what exactly did it, but I can now find and play the maps I make. Thanks.

I am unable to open any maps with entrenchment. i have been able to get them to work with the orginal sins. Does anyone have any ideas?

next i'm unable to use particleforge 3... any help on getting this to work

kylstar I am going to guess that you have placed the maps in the program files\galaxy folder, any galaxy files in this folder NEED to be in entrenchment's galaxy.manifest WITH the total number of files being correct, you could also (assuming you have an entrenchment later than 1.01 ie 1.02,1.03,1.04,1.041 then the galaxy files OTHER THAN the ones supplied by ironclad games SHOULD BE in the user space(next to mods folder)galaxy forge folder
