Either one of those would get a vote from me. ![]()
Or Dungeon Keeper, would love Dungeon Keeper. Please please please
(the 2 games above are good too btw)
MMmmm Dungeon Keeper.
I'd be interested to see Stardock's take on a Dungeon Keeper themed game.
Why bringing back so good memories ? Now I want Dungeon Keeper 3 and Syndicate 3 and X-COM 12 and ... and ...
*faints due to over-awe*
I'd vomit fish with excitement if Stardock took a swing on a dungeon keeper like game. (Startopia? It was the same game, except you weren't specifically evil, and it was in space not in a dungeon.... and you had to pay to open up areas of the map, which solved the problem of digging towards the opponents as fast as possible and basically end the game in 10 min if its fair multiplayer)
No you couldn't do that in Dungeon keeper unless your opponent was retarded and didn't fortify his walls. ALWAYS FORTIFY!
EDIT:: Which is why I didn't like the fortified wall nerf in DK2
right, in the 1st game fortified walls were ok. I think they should have stuck it with DK1, but made the tremor spell really easy to come by.
It was still that way in DK1 though, just because the tactic was "Box the other player" by encircling him in fortified walls. And if you messed up or the other player tried the same thing, you very quickly dug into each other. That is WHY DK2 made fortified walls destructable, because players would just box in DK1.
From what I hear 2K Games and Firaxis (which is owned by 2K) are both working on X-Com games. 2KGames X-Com game is a remake of Enforcer. It's more of a first person shooter set in the X-Com universe. Firaxis games is making a Full Fledged X-Com game with full tactical combat and tech research. Both of those though are what's currently going through the rumor mill of my old friends that are still in the industry. Whether or not there's any truth in those I don't know. I do know Ken Levine is probably the second biggest X-Com fan on the planet. The first biggest is Me ![]()
I'm skepitical about X-Com successors due to no one really out doing the first two in my books. Anyways, how about a spirtual successor to lords of the realm 2 and don't say they made lords of the realm 3 if you know what's good for you ![]()
I also WANT a DK3, as I had many a day dungeoning with BOTH dk1 & dk2
harpo
I would like to see a spiritual successor to:
- Dungeon Keeper
- Syndicat
- Populous
- K240
- Wing Commander
- Strike Commander
- Severance: Blade Of Darkness
- Lords Of Magic
- Wizardry
- Might & Magic
- Whales Voyage
- Star Control
- Starflight (i never played the original but what i've read sounds interessting)
- Crusader: No Regret
- Hard Nova
- Ultima
- X-COM
- Master Of Orion 2
But I know they will never come... ![]()
Thanks for making me feel Old as Hell!!! ![]()
I owned almost all of those at one point or another.
Theme Hospital
Laser Squad
Any of those would make my day. That and a Carmageddon remake. Like a real one, not that Clutch thing. A remake with real people to run over
don't you love this idea ? I know I do
but then again, I'm so evil. ![]()
[Edit]
Nice smiley bug right there, amazing.
Very well said FIDEL CASTROl
hehehe
This thread made me run to D2D and download X-com Apocalypse. Haven't played that in FOREVER.
I'd love to see a Spiritual Successor to X-com or Alpha Centauri.
If i had to create a new mod of UFO:Defense/Terror_from_the_Deep/Apocalypse for GC2 with X-Worlds... it sure does qualify me as being another "huge" fan of that franchise by Mythos & the Gollop broothers.
Trick is -- i still play these in a Dos-Box mode and they are as good as they ever were! Totally addictive concept and superb elements.
As for a sequel to the original X-Com (as in, true tactical ground combat and other excellent gameplay stuff that legend introduced to the PC market), don't hold you breath yet -- i've seen soooooooo many projects come and go over the years since.
Even Cydonia's Fall (by some European group) kinda staggered for a long time.
Here's hoping - to something. ![]()
Check these out Zyxpsilon.
UFO:Extraterrestrials

Also known as UFO: ET. The graphics aren't what we'd call Amazing, but they do the trick. This is the best X-Com clone I've found to date. There are enough Mods and Tweaks in this game you can literally make it play Exactly like X-Com. It still has a pretty active community as well.

The UFO series by Cenega and Altar games isn't too bad either. Not bad for X-Com clones but they still don't quite capture the feel of the originals. I'd still say they're worth playing and fun the first few times through.

Hope you enjoy them if you haven't already.
Yes right now
2k Games is working on and X-com sequal, but we have no Idea what form it will be in, and its very possible it will be a FPS, which will just make me want to off myself,
Extraterrestrials was closer to the X-com feel, but I didn't like the story,
UFO aftermath was pretty good,
so was aftershock and afterlight, unfortunently the missions became very tedious very fast, and I never found that with X-com.
EA games is ruining a new version of Syndicate as we speak, and there have been rumors that it is an FPS/MMORPG type version, and not an actual strategy game.
As for dungeon keeper, I liked it. but i wish there was more to the game, playing both sides, I actually liked Evil genius better, even though it was riddled with bugs.
It double posted me for some reason
ignore this
These two games aren't up Stardock's alley, but I'd like them to make a successor to Nexus the Jupiter Incident or Freespace 2.
Correction: Imperium Galactica 2 needs a remake - easily the best one. If my install disk wasn't scratched to hell I'd still be playing that.
I don't know about that. I'd say a Squad Based Tactical Strategy game would be right up Stardock's alley. I'd like to see what they come up with. I've always wanted a X-Com remake that starts off in todays modern world and goes with the premise that we're being invaded. With Stardock's level of customization they bring to the table I think they'd have a lot to offer a game like X-Com remake. Not too mention they already know there's a Huge Fan Base clamoring for a proper remake of the series.
