A [relative] Newb's Thoughts on Sedna

I've been playing for between a month or 2 & typically play Light & assassin class.  I tend to stay away from the General playstyle, but am familiar with it & comfortable with some.  I'm most familiar with Regulus, Rook, Oak, & Unclean Beast.  I've only occassionally played TB, QoT, & Erebus, & up until a few days ago, had never played Sedna.

So I gave her a shot.  Now, I've seen some (IMO) crazy OP'd Erebus players who can seemingly run faster than me no matter how I spec & therefore chase forever, have unlimited heals/HP, have insane damage output, etc, etc.  I'd previously thought Erebus is potentially the most OP'd DG.  But Sedna outdoes even that.  I won every 1v1, every lane stand off, every match so far as Sedna.  Admittedly, some of these matches had retarded stuff going on, but I got a good enough feel for her skills & playstyle.

Regardless, my point is, Sedna is damn powerful if a first-timer can pick up & play her & easily dominate the first few matches.  All I did was buy level 1 priest idols, Pounce, the +400 HP, +5 HP/sec, +100 HP minion Favor item, & I upgraded lowest-cost mana skills & passive skills first.  I could literally stay in the field dominating flags, lanes, & stand offs until level 9 or 10 before returning to the Citadel and/or buying artifacts.

Is my opinion off base?  Was I just playing total noobs?  Is it weird that I had an exponentially easier time winning with Sedna than with Regulus or Rook?  I realize self-heals help a lot, but it almost seems retarded how effective they are.  Anyone else agree?

Sedna is a tank... tanks are usually better for newer players imo because they give some extra room for mistakes.

Sedna is not OP though, i can beat a sedna as EB or UB fairly easily depending on spec/items and of course skill. But yes she is beastly 1 v 1.

I find it Sedna does great if she can weave in and out of reinforcement wave.  If I can catch her in the open she probably can't outheal the damage I can dish out with swift rook. But if I have to go through ton of reinforcements to deal damage to her, she can heal and deal damage back to me so I run or die :/  It's better not to follow any demigod into a swarm of mobs as a rule, but she has healing so it's even harder to down her on the run in that situation.

As rook I can push sedna out of a lane pretty easily unless she buys all three sets of idols. Even then it's not too bad.

yeh ... rook can easily push his lane in any circumstance (other than a tb lol).

I would say TB is much easier to push out than Sedna, I can't imagine how you can keep a good rook in check for long.

How does it change later? I find it gets easier and easier as the game goes on unless you go RoI/FB, which is still quite beatable since it's a mana hog.

its actually not that bad ... it also depends on circumstances also. but do u mean if i go tb and u sedna?

Oh, we're on different wavelengths, I thought we were talking rook vs. tb or sedna.

Sedna has no AoE, that makes her fucking shitty.

Wrong. Last level heal has an AoE.

And you understand real balance issues...

Not even a good troll. :X

200 damage at level 10? Not powerful enough to kill a minotaur.

Not enough to kill them, but enough to "mark" them, which I believe means if you do 25% damage, you still get the xp when they eventually die if you're within reasonable distance. I don't find I lag in xp when I'm playing Sedna, I might be 1 level behind assassins, 2 levels behind a tb or rook, but really quite on par with most other Demigods. Sedna gets lot's of flag captures due to high staying power, plus a good amount of kills since she's fast and has a powerful spammable finishing move. Sedna having no aoe is not a big deal, just let your allies with aoe take care of the creeps, while you do other things like stalk enemy demigods and ninja-cap flags.

In some ways, I do believe Sedna is a little overpowered, especially in some situatons like a 2v2 on crucible where staying power is huge since going back to base can be costly. Yea sure crucible is a bad map, but it's still a part of the game.

I can certainly say that I find games in which neither team has a Sedna more fun. People play smarter, not relying on a heal, plus forcing her out of somewhere is one hell of a pain.
