Pure Exploit

Just played a game where Sedna went and got every minion from the shop.  No, I dont mean just one of each type, but every single one by buying and selling the minion idols.  With her aura and 8 priests following her around, she was impossible to stop.  And of course she was able to do this near the early middle of the game because you get your cash back when you sell the idols.

I've played against an Oak that did this.  He claimed he just upgraded them through out the game and ended up with that many (he never died so there's an outside chance it's possible), but anyone who has used minions should know that no matter how hard you try to micromanage them, they do something stupid to get themselves killed, and this Oak had his minions swarming around him during the entire game.

They really need to fix the idols.  I regularly buy, cast, and resell the monks at the beginning of the game when playing Oak or Sedna, and I think that probably gives generals an unfair advantage, but people who stack minions like that are ridiculous.

This is a very old exploit. Most of the people who play generals do what mesasone says he does (and I think most do it to not have a disadvantage against other generals who exploit this "feature"). Even though minions are very powerful, this can be overcome with Area of Effect skills, leaving that exploiting General to recast only the idols he currently possesses (and costs him a lot of money due to purchasing at full price and selling at 80%).

AoE such as: Rook hammer slam, Regulus mines, TB circle of fire/fire nova/ice rain, UB ooze/plague, QoT ground spikes

With Sedna's heal aura and the priests casting heals, not much can be done.  Rook can't get a slam off when Sedna tosses out a silence or a pounce and then dead rook.  Reg's mines might have some effect, but not enough because she would just run through them and the 8 priests insta heal her.  UB ooze won't touch them since the damage is too small and I am not sure that QoT ground spikes would be enough.  I imagine in 2v1 you would be alright, but that presupposes that you have two people with enough coordination and also have AOE that can be used.  But, a general can get this set up well before your AOE is high enough level if you don't anticipate it and go strictly AOE.

The Sedna I played against wasn't stupid.  She didn't put herself in position to lose the minions.  Basically any 1v1 she manhandled and played more conservatively when it was 2v1.  She blew through defensive structures with her 8 archers + heal aura + self + 8 healers + 8 minos.

Needs to be fixed that you lose your minions when you you sell the idol.

Devs have said they will be fixing this.

and it is NOT a real balance problem. If you want to pull that trick, you have to sacrifice a lot of time (you have to wait between each cast) and gold only to lose it all the first time you die or your minions are killed.

The time and gold invested in that little exploit would allow you to gain 1 more level and to buy dangerous item (like the parasite egg if you really have no other option to kill a mass of minions (like for sedna))

or be a tb and aoe  those  minions too hell  he has more then  enough aoe power to get them all aka  circle of fire  rain of ice fire nova and frost nova

they all get the creeps  hurting badle or making them useless for a bit

With priests, yeah it is.

Good luck killing someone exploiting this with +HPs to minions. If you don't kill everything in 2s, the Priests will heal up everything.

Regardless of whether or not it's balanced, it's been deemed an exploit by the powers that be and it will be fixed.

So enjoy it while you can.

Its not an exploit/bug. Its just an overpowered game mechanic. The devs never thought it could be abused like that.

It has been acknowledge as an explot/bug by the Devs.

The Generals *are not* balanced around 24 normal minions, that are balanced around 6.

Particularly with Sedna, with her aura-based minion buffs, 8 priests is simply over the top. She has a priest healing buff, attack speed buff, and  +24 hps minion buff, which combines well with the +4 hps crusader plate buff. No melee DG can deal with this; and few DGs have enough AoE to kill all those rapidly healing minions (TB, maybe). Regulus, Erebus, QoT, Sedna, Oak, and UB simply don't put out enough AoE DPS to take those priests down.

Rook/TB can, however, both are quite squishy given they have to be in melee range to AoE those priests; and if the Sedna has 4 yetis, 8 priests, and 8 archers, you *will* die. Particularly if she pounces (lvl 1 pounce) one of the AoEs.

Worse; such a Sedna is absolutely devestating when played defensively (hanging around towers). A Sedna with 8 preists/8 archers/4 yetis on Crucible in damn near invincible in the towers.

quite an old topic -> kill the minions

You are Sedna. (Or Oak, or UB)  Now what?

While Sedna sucks against minions in general, she's actually quite useful against the exploit. Counter-healing making their priests unable to heal is quite nice.

Kill the priests. It's not hard. You can attack her minions too, you don't have to just blow past them and bash her.

Assuming you have gotten it at that point.  Sometimes you want movespeed instead.

Sedna does not sit behind her minions, she leads them without fear of death because she is backed up by 8 healing priests that all range on your butt along with 8 archers when you come out to play with arguably the toughest tank in the game - Sedna.  The only thing that can take down the mass is a really well coordinated AOE strike from at least 2 other demigods.  Unless you kill the minions outright, they will basically insta heal immediately.  Taking down a single minion is a painfully difficult task when it is being healed by 7 other priests + Sedna.  It presupposes that the minion sits there and takes damage without moving out of range.

I love the paper arguments though.  Unless you see it in practice, it is hard to believe.  Partly because Sedna can put up 8 priests fairly early in the game before anyone has any decent aoe.

Most of the time, killing a decent Sedna takes more than two demigods in my experience. You have to blow all of your cooldowns to make her flinch. Even then, she does her little squatting kitty sparkle magic and then pounces you to pieces.
