Black Screen + Freeze at startup

Has anyone been having this problem? I just installed the game, got past the introduction and the game has a black screen at the menu. I can move the ingame mouse pointer around but even that freezes. Demigod isnt using up a lot of ram at that time, mayby 90k ish making me think its crashing before loading. I have tried restarting pc, restarting the game, closing all background applications etc, but problem still persists.

All other games run fine on my system, its a newly formatted pc with updated drivers for everything (1 week)

My specs are

xfx 790i mb

intel core 2 quad q9300

4gb ram

nvidia 9800 gtx vidcard

2x500 gb hd in raid-0

and windows xp 64bit with the latest updates...

 

i will try uninstall-reinstalling right now and keep this thread updated

If the game is hanging after the intro vids or when going through mutiplayer menus, there is nothing wrong with your install. Those are due to the excessive load on the pre-release servers being caused by the early Gamestop release and the many pirates.

We're hoping to have the production servers up tonight or tomorrow, and likely on different IPs so that the pirates will not be able to bog them down. In the meanwhile, the game should proceed to the menu if you give it a couple of minutes for the update check to time out.

I bought the game at game stop instaled it and i cant get in it starts up and goes to a black screeen, with words about a update or asking me to enter my profile name but not gvieng me a palce to enter it

As you said, i gave the game a few minutes and it has loaded now. It asked for an update but since the servers are down i cancelled it and am enjoying single player right now. I bought this from gamestop so i'll wait till the official servers are up, besides i need the practice anyways.

Game runs smooth like a charm on my computer. I feel a little overwhelmed with all the stuff going on, a tutorial would have helped a ton but i'm sure just by playing i can figure most of it out.

Very impressed so far.

i definately got a place to enter my profile name, its right below the text where it asks you, part of the same box. Just clicked on the blank space and the typing cursor appeared.

The game's severs may be down, but Impulse itself is online and you can get your update from it.  Just run impulse.

 

Edit:  N/M, looks like some people are having trouble getting the patch from Impulse... I don't know what's going on, I'm going to guess the severs are expecting the (unreleased) day 0 patch.
