Is there any way of naming Capital ships?

I've noticed that Capital ships have their own names. I'm wondering if there's a function, or a modifable file, or a mod that allows me to name capital ships. I realise its a small thing, but I'd still like to do it.

I really like my fave faction's capital ships. The Kol is the dog's bollocks. The Marza is a close second. But they all have naff names - I think I had an Akkan called the 'TDN Fafnaize' or something like that. Fafnaize? Sounds like a drain cleaner. I'd like to give them some inspirational names, like the Orion or the Steadfast or something like that :p

there is a button in the middle of teh lower HUD bar that you can click...looks like an arrow pointing up, its straight above teh scuttle button...will let you rename anything that has a name (capships, planets, starbases)

You obiviously can't rename planets that you don't own, though :p

Cheers peoples, worked a treat. I decided to name my veteran Kol 'TDN Wtfpwnbbq' after a one to many tustles with the local advents. I'll think up some better names tomorrow :p

The amount of customisability in this game is astonishing. Love it :)

What if you changed the string file? From playing the star trek mod, I've been able to change the names of the ships without doing it in game, of course, if you don't want the name to be repeated do it manually.
